Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Rollins Jr.
Hi Michael, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In 2020, during the COVID pandemic, I began to reevaluate my life and priorities. Reflecting on my goals, I realized that entrepreneurship had always been a dream of mine since childhood. I’ve always been passionate about the health and wellness space—spending time in the gym and focusing on eating balanced meals with vegetables and lean proteins. My wife’s commitment to healthier eating truly made a positive impact on our lives. As I explored the health industry with the help of a franchise consultant, I discovered several promising business opportunities. In September 2023, I learned about Gameday Men’s Health—a rapidly growing concept with only 24 locations at the time, but expanding quickly across the U.S. After thoughtful discussion with my wife Sharon, we agreed this was an excellent chance to make a meaningful difference in men’s health. Gameday Men’s Health specializes in four main services: Testosterone Health, Peptides, Erectile Dysfunction, and Vitamin Wellness. At that time, there were no clinics in Southern Maryland offering all these services with certified lab testing under one roof. I knew this was the perfect business to bring to our community. We officially opened in October 2024 as Gameday Men’s Health Waldorf
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
After opening, we quickly realized that both our business and our range of services were unfamiliar to the local community, which presented hurdles in educating the public about what we offered. For instance, there was a general lack of awareness about the causes of declining testosterone in men and the benefits of maintaining optimal testosterone levels. To address this, we launched ongoing social media campaigns and grassroots marketing efforts, focusing on educating men about testosterone—what it is, why it’s important to get tested after age 35, and how symptoms like reduced libido, heightened anxiety, and decreased energy can indicate low testosterone. Our mission was to help men achieve their best health. We also invested heavily in advertising through sports stadiums, radio, and online platforms, but measuring which channels were most effective proved challenging. Through experience, I discovered that targeted marketing to our core demographic was far more efficient. One of the most important lessons from our first year was learning to track and maximize our return on investment (ROI). We achieved the best results by partnering with health and wellness venues like gyms and participating in health fairs, while general sporting events yielded less success—likely due to a less health-focused audience. While some men at baseball games may be interested in testosterone health, the ROI from gym partnerships was much higher, leading to more patients from those efforts.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Before launching this business, I spent 25 years building a career in Contact Center leadership, working across a wide range of industries including telecommunications, wireless technology, satellite internet, and utilities. What I enjoyed most was the opportunity to continually learn about different sectors rather than focusing on just one specialty. I credit my curiosity and unwillingness to remain stagnant in any position as some of the most valuable aspects of my time in corporate America. Additionally, being laid off was a turning point that motivated me to pursue entrepreneurship on a larger scale. Life offers no guarantees except the present moment, and I realized that the knowledge and experience I gained from my previous roles prepared me to seize the right business opportunity when it came along. Ultimately, I asked myself: How many stories of others’ success can you read before deciding to invest in your own?
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I appreciate most about Baltimore is the city’s resilience and hardworking spirit—the determination people show is unmistakable every time I visit. However, one area where I see room for improvement is the school system. While there are dedicated educators and parents making a positive difference, I wish there were even more engaged students and supportive families involved. I truly believe Baltimore has the potential to shine even brighter.
