Today we’d like to introduce you to Ron ADLER.
Hi Ron, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Adler Display was founded in 1937 by Howard Adler, who began the business in the attic above his mother’s clothing store on Biddle Street in Baltimore. From these modest beginnings, Howard established a reputation for craftsmanship and creativity, producing hand‑lettered signs for Read’s Drug Store and designing window displays for Stewart’s Department Stores.
In 1955, Adler Display completed one of its most notable early projects: the Enchanted Forest Amusement Park in Ellicott City, a landmark that became a beloved Maryland destination. Howard and his team also created parade floats for Equitable Bank as well as tradeshow displays, further demonstrating the company’s versatility and design expertise.
In 1980, leadership of the company transitioned to Ron Adler, who became president and expanded the firm’s scope and capabilities. Under his direction, Adler Display evolved into a comprehensive design and fabrication company serving a diverse range of clients across the region.
Today, Adler Display specializes in the design and production of museum exhibits, including the recently opened Ocean City Museum. The company also creates visitor and welcome center displays, such as the Howard County Welcome Center in Ellicott City and numerous facilities throughout Maryland.
Additionally, Adler Display is recognized for its work in donor recognition systems and history walls for hospitals, schools, corporations, and nonprofit organizations. The firm continues to support clients in the trade show industry as well, producing everything from compact tabletop displays to large, custom two‑story island exhibits.
Throughout its history, Adler Display has remained committed to quality, innovation, and service—continuing the legacy established by its founder nearly a century ago.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like many companies, Adler Display faced significant challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic, especially with the cancellation of trade shows — a segment that represents half of our business. Today, we’re excited to share that trade shows have returned in a major way, and we’re once again helping clients bring their brands to life on the exhibit floor.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Adler Display stands apart thanks to our talented team of designers and fabricators who create state‑of‑the‑art, visually compelling displays throughout the region. Our team consistently exceeds client expectations by delivering innovative concepts, impeccable craftsmanship, and exceptional custom solutions.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most people don’t know that Adler Display actually built many of the original storybook sculptures for Maryland’s Enchanted Forest amusement park in the 1950s — including iconic pieces like Cinderella’s Pumpkin Coach and Willie the Whale.
