Meet Jasmine Williams of Peace in Movement

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Williams.

Hi Jasmine, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Since 2014, I’ve had the joy of teaching pole fitness, aerial yoga, and mat yoga across the Maryland, D.C., and Virginia area, where I’ve also been an enthusiastic participant in the local movement community. My experiences have shown me the transformative power of mindful movement.

In 2020, I felt inspired to bring this gift of movement closer to Downtown Silver Spring, a community I’ve proudly called home since 2010. What began as a small studio in my one bedroom apartment is now growing into Peace in Movement—a thoughtfully curated space for us to explore, connect, and grow together.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It absolutely has not been a smooth road. There’s infinite change, infinite adjustments, and infinite learning of new skills as an entrepreneur. Adapting to the political and economic climate has not been easy, as I was furloughed from my full time role in the federal government during our third month of business – which turned out to be a huge blessing in disguise as it gave me more time to dedicate to growing the business and being present with my team, as we pivoted to offer $15 furlough classes to support those also affected by the shutdown.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Peace in Movement is a mindfulness movement studio that officially opened in downtown Silver Spring in August 2025 after years of preparation. I’m a longtime movement enthusiast who found my home in the local pole community in 2014 and saw opportunities to expand into other modalities such as aerial and yoga to supplement my pole practice. Peace in Movement crafts a supportive space for individuals looking to build their own movement practice with no judgment. We emphasize the mindfulness that can come through physical movement, and the transformation of mind, body, and spirit. We also believe deeply in the power of community and love to curate private events in our beautiful space for groups of people to come together to move and grow in relationship with others.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is being obedient to my calling.
