Hi Sheree, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi, my name is Sheree Jones, and I’m honored to be a business owner serving my community.
My journey began more than 30 years ago in sales and consulting. After years of being consistently undervalued, I made the decision in 2017 to step out on faith and build my own company. I truly credit God—and my background as a competitive athlete in basketball and track and field during high school and college—for giving me the resilience, discipline, and tenacity required to survive and succeed in business.
I built my company, Legacy Team Associates, from the ground up. I bootstrapped every step of the way because I didn’t have access to friends-and-family capital or traditional funding networks. That experience shaped my mission. I initially focused on securing financing for real estate investors and small business owners, but over time I became deeply troubled by the number of capable entrepreneurs—particularly within the BIPOC community—who were denied access to capital despite having viable businesses.
In 2020, I pivoted into M&A advisory, helping entrepreneurs buy and sell businesses—both independently owned companies and franchise opportunities—and I immediately found my calling. Today, I work with business owners preparing for successful exits, aspiring entrepreneurs pursuing acquisitions, and growth-oriented companies in the middle market seeking capital to scale. I also help founders with strong concepts expand through franchising in a way that is both strategic and sustainable.
At the core of everything I do is a commitment to access, equity, and legacy—helping business owners build value, create opportunity, and leave something meaningful behind.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not. This journey has been anything but easy. Building a business without access to capital means navigating constant uncertainty, and there were moments when the ups and downs felt overwhelming. As a single parent following a divorce, I faced seasons where I was simply surviving—sometimes even while my bank account was in the negative.
But through every challenge, God has always provided. Those moments strengthened my faith and reinforced my belief that I am walking in my purpose. I know this path is bigger than me—I’m building something that changes the trajectory of my family, and I’m confident I will be the first millionaire in my family. That belief keeps me moving forward, no matter the obstacles.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5 to 10 years, I believe we are going to see some major shifts in how businesses are evaluated, financed, and transitioned — all fueled by technology, demographic change, and a growing emphasis on equitable access to capital.
First, data and automation will play a bigger role in deal sourcing, valuation, and due diligence. Tools driven by AI and predictive analytics are already helping advisors and buyers make faster, more informed decisions. I expect this trend to accelerate as more middle-market companies adopt systems that make their financials and operations easier to benchmark and scale.
Second, access to capital is going to continue transforming. Traditional lenders are tightening standards in some segments, but there’s explosive growth in alternative capital sources — including revenue-based financing, community development financial institutions (CDFIs), fintech lenders, and strategic investor groups focused on underserved founders. This diversification is an opportunity, but it also requires more education and advocacy so that historically excluded entrepreneurs can access the right solutions at the right time.
Third, baby boomer business exits will continue to drive market activity. A significant portion of privately held companies will change hands as owners retire. That creates enormous opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs, existing business owners, and advisors who know how to structure win-win transactions.
Fourth, franchising will expand in new directions. We’ll see more brands going franchise-ready earlier, especially in service and tech-enabled sectors. At the same time, franchise models will become more flexible and data-driven to support diverse ownership — reducing barriers for people who have the ideas but historically have lacked the resources.
Finally, I see a continued emphasis on mission and impact. Business owners, investors, and buyers are increasingly intentional about why they operate, not just how they operate. That shift means advisors like me have to be fluent not only in finance, but in strategic planning, culture, and sustainable growth.
In short — the fundamentals of buying, selling, and scaling businesses are the same, but the tools, expectations, and opportunities are evolving rapidly. I’m excited to be part of shaping an industry that’s more efficient, more inclusive, and more impactful than ever before.
