Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Blau.
Hi Emily, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We are an off-the-grid wellness retreat center that hosts yoga retreats, grief groups, corporate events, wellness activities. And welcome people to try our award-winning wood-fired sauna and stay in a cabin or yurt. I took over this business in 2022 after it was run for over 20 years. Shortly after taking over, I was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of Breast Cancer at the age of 29. It has completely changed the way we run the business. It has been such an adventure learning how to steward the land responsibly, and hold space for others while learning how to care for myself and my new body. I continue to expand this work through retreats, wellness practices, and community-based offerings, with the goal of creating spaces where people feel grounded, supported, and truly at home in themselves.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not! But I do not consider them failures, just learning 10,000 ways to not do something. Like I mentioned, right when I took over, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was such a challenge learning how to navigate a staff, a large piece of property, and holding space for others while they go through periods of learning, yearning, and discovering themselves.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Nurture Through Nature ?

We use composting toilet systems and compost everything from kitchen scraps to “humanure” from guests and residents, alike.
We rely on local farmers and organic produce for food sources, whenever possible.
We use only earth-friendly cleaning products.
We recycle everything possible through local recycling resources.
We support the local economy by utilizing local practitioners and material resources for on-site projects and services needed.
We even use a solar-powered trimmer for landscaping needs.
