Meet Kylie Louden of Perry Hall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kylie Louden.

Hi Kylie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Kynd Wellness was established in 2024.

I’ve been in the wellness/spa industry for my whole career; I received my esthetician license in 2000 and my massage license in 2002 and for most of my career I worked at a small women owned spa in Annapolis called Even Keel. Shortly after the Covid shutdown she ended up selling Even Keel to a corporation and I moved to another small women owned spa called Ethos of Annapolis. This is where I was introduced to Korean skincare (my heart) and as a 1099 employee, I learned all the ins and outs of the business… placing orders, making treatment menus, rescheduling and checking clients out, all of which was done for me at Even Keel. I felt quite at home at Ethos, and I continue to commute to Annapolis 1 day a week to see my loyal and long-term clients.
The drive to and from Annapolis never bothered me until we lost the bridge. The Key Bridge was the route I took home every night and while it was still a long drive I never sat in much traffic. That first day without the bridge cost me 4 hours in my car, with stop and go the whole time, I was miserable. That was a Monday, on Tuesday while driving my daughter to daycare I noticed a small building that had a sign that said, “Suites for Lease, Wellness ready” and something in me sparked. I signed the lease before even establishing my own LLC. I knew I was ready to go solo and that I wouldn’t be happy working for another spa. I enjoyed having all the freedom to make my own decisions on what treatments I was going to offer, I was able to create own schedule and have control over it, as well as personalizing protocols for treating different skin types and conditions.
I’ve always worked with incredible women and we’ve always gone above and beyond to make our clients feel comfortable and welcomed so when I started purchasing for my suite I didn’t pinch pennies. I made sure to get the extra plush top for my massage table, I include arnica infused muscle balms into my massages at no extra cost to the client as well as mentholated foot sprays to ease those tired feet. My table is heated and I always have heat packs warm and ready to lay on your back to loosen those tight muscles.
I think my treatment menu is pretty unique as I offer personalized services, with each one crafted with you in mind. You don’t have to read through facial descriptions that all sound the same or choose if you want Deep Tissue or Swedish massage, each treatment is tailored to you. So we’ll chat, you’ll let me know what you’d like to see improvement on or what is bothering you and I’ll do my best to target that area, get you some release or address your facial concerns.
I am dual licensed so many clients get both services in a treatment, massage first then a facial to get you glowing.
While I carry a few Korean brands (KrX, Corthe, Dermamethod, Pfect-A) I also brought in Mr Lulu, a vegan, preservative-free brand that focused on brightening and clarifying for all skin types.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Social media is my biggest hurdle. I don’t have much of social media presence personally and I do not feel comfortable photographing my clients during their treatments. Their time on my table is for them to unwind, not for me to build a social media following.
I have been photographed during a treatment and then later saw my face while going through my Instagram and it was very unsettling. I understand that people want to see if they will get any results with a specific treatment, but every skin is going to react differently based on how they were prepped for the treatment and what they use at home. I’m happy to photograph my clients if they request it but I only share those photos with them personally.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My touch in my niche.
I have a way of connecting with the person and have always believed that the intention behind the touch is just as important as the touch itself. I am extremely caring, and I hold space for my clients to express what they need. Often times during consultation someone will complain of tight shoulders not realizing that the pain is originating elsewhere and only when I start working in other places will they sigh with relief. Hip pain is often related to jaw pain and lower back pain can be a result of tight hamstrings, so I like to address the body as a whole while also focusing on those areas of complaint.

My Buccal Lifting treatments are what I’m probably most proud of. It’s a specialized massage technique that addresses fluid retention, jaw pain, headaches, and neck tension. While this treatment does include intra-oral massage to address the deeper jaw muscles, the same relief can be achieved without the intra-oral portion through myofascial release. If you are not comfortable with me working in the mouth you can still receive this treatment, its offered as a massage and as a facial.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
My facials are for everyone. If you’d had a bad experience before or you don’t like getting treatments because you always feel pushed to buy endless products or sign up for packages I’d encourage you to give my space a shot. I have a no-pressure approach, my retail can be drop-shipped to your door so I don’t feel the pressure to stock and sell. You’ll leave with the Glass Skin glow that Korean skincare is known for, unless of course, you prefer a more matte finish. My sunscreen is inclusive and doesn’t leave a white cast on even the darkest of skin tones. I have peel options for every person and tone, including pregnant and nursing mothers. I strive to make my space safe for all.

Pricing:

  • $115 – $180 for massages
  • $105 – $185 for facials
