We recently had the chance to connect with Linda Biggs and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Linda, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity! To me integrity is everything. When someone honors their word and responsibility to me that wins my heart!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello friends, I am an artist. More than my brand or my products. Marking art is what truly fills my soul.
I’ve been selling art professionally for over 30 years… It has been in many different forms
In the beginning, it was note cards and my original works. Then we started selling a line of prints and small gift items.
Just like swirly twirly gum drops it morphed into porcelain Fairie statues and other fancy things. That was glorious. Probably the most elegant thing my art could ever be.
Then later down the road, which is where we are now we manufactured an adult line of cannabis ancillary support products like rolling trays, grinders and other pretty and useful things. ( the adult cannabis space needed products with a feminine energy.)
This has been a journey I never would have expected. So Grateful, I have gotten to do all of it.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I had to grab this question… Because you might not believe my answer.
I was six years old – I can clearly remember it. I remember seeing Fairies out in the wild and the adults… The grown-ups laughed at me and told me I was just a child. They would say, Fairyes aren’t real…. And it was just my imagination.
As time went on while I was a child, I started creating wonderful little fairy things. Artful things… Paper, dolls…
I painted beautiful flowers and things that appeared to be made by an adult. I was constantly winning contests and teaching others how to create art.
I knew then, that I would be an artist for the rest of my life… Not just as a child painting and coloring. I knew I would do it forever and teach each other others also. It has been a real life dream come true. And by the way, Fairies are real!
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
As an artist… We use this tool pretty often. I always found that I could paint what I couldn’t say in words. Painting Images, as a result of pain was and is very freeing.
Sometimes people understood the images… And sometimes they did not.
I do have a few images in my portfolio that are almost frightening, to the viewer… However, those happen to be my most collected pieces
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
I believe that the public version of me is pretty close to the real me. Even when I was young, I always felt that if I felt content, even if it made others uncomfortable, that was the path I had to choose.
I have stuck to that my entire life.
I’ve never really fit into mainstream anything… So being me, however that showed up is how I have lived my life.
And I’m not a youngster so I have had many years of practice.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I am creating a piece of artwork.
My practice over the years taught me that I always had to have a painting in the works on the art table. At all times!
In the beginning of my art career, I would be filled with joy while I was painting… And my paintings take a long time so there would be long periods of joy. Then when I would finish the piece, it would be as if I would go into some sort of depression. Until I started the next piece.
Overtime I realized always have a piece of art work on the table so that I can work on it every day even if it’s just five minutes. It’s therapy for me.
That has kept me calm and joyful, most of the time.
