Today we’d like to introduce you to Elsa Hall.
Hi Elsa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was in highschool I had no idea what I wanted to do for a living, but I had a strong passion for makeup and cosplay. I later learned about the cosmetology program at CTC (Career & Technology Center) for highschool students. I applied along with many other students and thankfully got accepted! I originally wanted to be an FX makeup artist. While in beauty school I developed a passion for nail art. Thankfully my teacher recognized this and told me about a job opportunity for a local salon. I interviewed and got my first job as a nail technician and nail artist Thomas Scott Salon and Spa after graduation. I worked there for over 6 years learning about the industry and perfecting my skills alongside another very talented nail technician. She eventually opened her own suite and that inspired me greatly! I’ve looked up to her a lot in my career. When I was ready I decided to open my own salon, Lunar Nail Spa. I loved the idea of having a more peaceful space for my clients to unwind and have time to pamper themselves. I took notes from my clients asking what they would like the new place to be like and did just that. The lunar moon theme just adds that touch of my personality to the salon as I love the more goth or alternative style while still being friendly for all.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was not a smooth road, but I would do it all again to be where I am now! There was drama getting started that I won’t get into. With times being rough as well financially it was difficult being at a young age. With the help from my partner, friends and family we made it come true together!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am most know for my love for art! I have always loved creating things. From sculptures to painting I love it all. This helped me develop my love for nail art. It felt nice being able to help those feel beautiful and happy with their looks. This lead me to opening my salon and choosing my career.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Helping clients and making then smile makes me happy. I love to care for others. At home I care for my plants and pets. At work I help clients feel healthier and beautiful. Especially my elder clients who struggle with pedicures. I’m happy knowing they feel cared for geting a pedicure or manicure. Being able to do nail art or even just a color you get to see the joy in people’s eyes knowing they feel cared for and happy with how they look.
