Hi Victor, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi I am Victor, I am the owner of Martinez Bar and Events. Martinez Bar began with a single private gig that completely changed my path. At the time, I was bartending for hotels, bars, and resorts, but one day, I got hired for a private event where guests were expecting “just a bartender.” Their expectations were not what they expected; they were used to someone who could make a few basic drinks or something pre-arranged.

But I showed up differently. I arrived fully prepared, dressed professionally, and brought everything homemade, artisanal syrups, fresh-squeezed juices, organic ingredients, and unique recipes that people had never tasted before. Every cocktail was authentic, balanced, and made with care. By the end of the night, people were shocked. They kept saying things like, “Where can I leave a review? Can I leave you a tip? Can I get the recipe?” It was such a beautiful moment and I realized how much people appreciated that kind of quality and attention to detail, even in a private home setting.

That first event opened the door to something bigger. From then on, every single gig became another opportunity to surprise people and raise the bar. If clients asked for something simple, we delivered something premium. If they expected basic, we gave them unforgettable. I started small, working alone, but as events grew in size and scale, I built a team and invested in professional bar setups, elegant mobile bars, and high-end tools like Japanese shakers, the Flavor Blaster, and Drink Ripples machines, that not even most bars are equipped with.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
At the very beginning, everything actually felt easy. It was just me doing small gigs, and because I had full control, I could make sure every detail was perfect. I’d prepare everything myself, from the syrups and juices to the setup and presentation and it worked smoothly.

But as Martinez Bar & Events started to grow, things naturally became more challenging. I realized I couldn’t do everything alone anymore. I needed help and reliable people who could represent the same level of quality and professionalism that clients had come to expect. Finding those people wasn’t always easy. It’s one thing to find someone for one or two events, but when you start having multiple events in one weekend, it becomes a whole different story. There were times when people didn’t show up or called out last minute, and it complicated everything.

On top of that, I was wearing all the hats not just being the bartender, but also barback, prep team, delivery driver, social media manager, marketing director, accountant, designer, and more. I was also doing the shopping, making the syrups, creating the content, answering emails, making phone calls, running the events, and managing everything behind the scenes. People would ask me where I got all my energy from but the truth is, I was exhausted but determined. I loved what I was building too much to stop.

Now, things are more balanced. I have a strong, reliable team that I trust, and together we’ve built systems that keep everything running smoothly. We’ve also expanded, we’re not just doing bartending anymore; we’ve added catering and event rentals, and we travel all over the DMV area and beyond.

Even with the growth, challenges never really go away, they just change. But one thing that never changes is our commitment to making sure clients never feel the chaos behind the scenes. No matter what happens, the guests always experience excellence.

While many bars take shortcuts with artificial mixes or bottled juices, I’ve always believed in using real, premium ingredients because quality is what defines the Martinez Bar & Events experience.

Over time, that same commitment has extended to every corner of the business. We’ve upgraded from plastic cups to elegant glassware, refined our custom aprons multiple times, redesigned our logo, and improved our mobile bar setups, tools, and even the vehicles we use. Every single step forward from a small car to a full cargo van, represents growth, evolution, and pride in doing things better.

Looking ahead, I want to keep expanding adding more high-roof vans, growing our team, and eventually securing a larger space to operate from. We’re working toward 1,000+ five-star reviews, new partnerships, and even more creative event experiences.

Most importantly, I want to continue creating jobs and opportunities for my team, people who believe in this vision as much as I do. The better we get, the harder we are to beat, and that constant drive to improve is what keeps me going every single day.
