Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Korey Keels of Baltimore

Korey Keels shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Korey, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
Absolutely. I’ve learned that slowing down can be one of the smartest moves you make. It’s saved me from costly mistakes and taught me the value of patience and perspective. When uncertainty hits, I stay still, think it through, and act with intention rather than impulse. FOMO is not a strategy — clarity and confidence come from waiting for the right moment, not rushing into the wrong one. Patience and preparation almost always pay off in the long run.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m the Owner/President of Raven Termite & Pest Control, a family-operated company serving the central Maryland area for over a decade. I actually purchased the business from my former supervisor when I learned he was ready to sell—after years of hands-on work in the field, it felt right to carry the torch and build something our community could count on. We handle everything from general pests and rodents to termites and wildlife, and we’re known for our science based, eco friendly pest control solutions. We’re relationship-driven and locally rooted—fast responses, fair pricing, and real accountability. Right now we’re expanding coverage and rolling out even more engaging training to keep results strong and predictable.”

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I always believed in myself — even when the path wasn’t clear. What’s changed over time isn’t my confidence, but my understanding of how belief must be matched with discipline, patience, and consistent action. I’ve learned that self-belief is the foundation, but it’s the daily work that turns belief into reality

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me more about leadership than success ever did. It revealed the importance of empathy, adaptability, and reflection. The difficult moments strengthened my resolve and shaped how I lead—with understanding, patience, and purpose.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Those who know me best would say my guiding philosophy is integrity — building success the right way, with honesty and consistency. I focus on long-term stability, financial freedom, and creating generational wealth that provides lasting opportunities for my family.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember me as someone who chased big goals with relentless drive and integrity — someone who took ownership of his path, built the life he envisioned, and used his blessings to uplift others and give back to the community.
