Community Highlights: Meet Brandi Wynne of Brandi Wynne Nutrition

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandi Wynne.

Hi Brandi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
During the COVID pandemic, I was a stay at home mom, raising two school age daughters. While they worked quietly on school work and my husband attended to his profession, I felt empty. I needed something to challenge me, something that was mine. I made the decision to go to graduate school. I chose the field of Nutrition because it is an area that is relevant to my own life, but something that I could share with others. I attended my first classes beginning in August 2020. To pair with this program, I entered Frederick Community College to pursue a certification in Personal Training. Becoming a full time student while juggling my family responsibilities was a challenge, but my family stepped up, and we made it through this process. I graduated with a Masters degree in Nutrition Education from American University and earned the National Academy of Sports Medicine Personal Training Certification in May 2022.
I was so excited to go out into the world and share what I had learned in each of these programs. I worked part time as a Personal Training Coach in Frederick, MD while I pondered my next steps. I quickly realized that in order to follow my dreams of operating my own personalized nutrition business, I needed to continue my education, focusing on clinical nutrition with an emphasis on women’s health from a trauma informed lens. I continued with education, pursuing credentialing with the American Nutrition Association through the board for Certified Nutrition Specialists. This board certification required 1000 hours of supervised client care, along with additional courses focusing on biochemistry and clinical nutrition. I headed back to school for additional coursework while beginning to see clients in person. After an additional 20 months, I finally reached my requirement for supervised training. I began the process of studying for the board exam-a full time job in and of itself. For four months, I did almost nothing but study clinical nutrition and the medical nutrition therapy process. In December 2024, I sat for the board exam-an experience I never want to do again! Having believed for six weeks, that I had not passed this exam, the letter detailing my score arrived. To my complete surprise, I had passed!
In January 2025, I became a Certified Nutrition Specialist®, credentialed by the American Nutrition Association® through its Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists™. Having received this credential, I applied for licensure in the state of Maryland, becoming a licensed dietitian nutritionist (LDN).
I have been working diligently setting up my private practice, where I see women who want to feel better in their bodies, have more energy, and regain the life they imagined for themselves. I currently run a small practice located in Frederick, MD where offer in-person as well as virtual nutrition services. I recently began accepting insurance, which has opened the doors for so many women in need of nutrition services with minimal cost to them. I love what I do; working with my clients, looking at the whole person, attempting to uncover what is keeping them from their full potential. For me, it’s like putting the pieces of a puzzle together, while my clients engage in small, sustainable action steps, moving them closer to the goals they have for themselves. I find it absolutely fascinating, and I am having so much fun.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The last five years have been filled with time where I was feeling confident and moving along as planned, while I have also experienced times when I just wanted to push it aside and give up. The adjustment period during graduate school was rough. I had been out of college for almost 20 years at this time, and it was not an easy transition back into that world. While pursuing my board certification, I had realized that additional courses would be necessary, but learning that my undergraduate prerequisites would not carry over was frustrating. Having to go back to basic Chemistry before being able to continue with my additional courses consumed an entire summer-forcing a full semester into a seven week summer class almost made me want to give up the whole process! While I have had times of struggle along the way, I never gave up. I knew that I had to see this portion of my journey to its end–my daughters were watching!

We’ve been impressed with Brandi Wynne Nutrition, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) specializing in personalized clinical nutrition with a focus on women. I work with women who don’t feel good in their bodies, crave more energy or just want to reclaim the nurturing relationship with food that we all have at birth. I absolutely love working with my clients, getting to know them, understanding what life is like for them, discussing where they want to be several months down the road, and walking along side them as we uncover their internal motivators.
I have recently joined the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, and have been honored with an official ribbon cutting for my business, just this past September. It makes my business feel more “official.”
I want readers to know that I serve women from all over Maryland and Pennsylvania. I accept several major insurance carriers, allowing for affordable service offerings.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
When I am not reading professional books, I love a great crime mystery-either in audiobook form on reading on my Kindle.
