Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Kourtesis.
Nick, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Back in 2012, I was working with HS players who were looking at playing in college. I came up with the idea for MASC when I decided to start helping athletes in their college recruiting journeys. We started with soccer players and two volleyball players.
As we grew through word of mouth in the DC area, we then were approached by parents of athletes in multiple sports. We now do college recruiting in almost every sport, including soccer, football, basketball, tennis, lacrosse, baseball, softball, crew and many others.
At one point, we were approached by travel clubs in multiple sports to work with the athletes in their clubs. As we continued to grow, our roots have taken shape in Florida, Missouri, California, and internationally like South Korea, Japan, Dubai, and Italy.
We continue to partner with organizations and clubs both in the United States and abroad. And our reach is now world wide on the college recruiting side.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Covid was our biggest struggle, as all activities were stopped and no sports existed. It almost put us under, but we continued the good fight.
Some of the other struggles have been our competitors, as there is always someone trying to knock off your brand. However, we are unique to what we do, so we just view it as imitation being the sincerest form of flattery.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Mid-Atlantic Sports Consultants?
We are known in the DC metro area as the premier college recruiting agency. We work with HS athletes in helping them achieve their goals of playing sports in college. We are most proud of helping the young man or woman who can use their skill sets in sports to attain a college education.
We offer recruiting services to athletes in almost every sport, and we value each of our clients and their families as if they were a part of our family.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love being from Baltimore. Its the home of the Orioles, the Ravens, and so many beautiful places like the Inner Harbor, Little Italy, etc.
The thing I like the least is that there are still parts of the city that need economic development. There are good people that need help.
