Reesey, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I believe most of us (including me) are struggling with mental health & capacity. The internet/social media overloads us with so much information. Useful & Useless info, AI being very present & prominent in todays time is making it difficult to navigate. Its not easy to speak on it because just about everybody is in the same boat if not worse. Its hard to speak about it because most of us dont even know its a struggle. 1 scroll turns into 1 hour of scrolling. Cancer disguised as pleasure
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Im Reesey, also known as ReeseyGotIt. Im a music connoisseur, journalist & pioneer. I dont make music, I live it. My life becomes the music. As a producer, singer, wordsmith & engineer, please dont forget I am a nerd lol. Its me, me being myself has opened so many parallels. It has made art creation so different and personal to me. I like putting together something so radiant & heavy, all you can do is laugh or cry from the experience of experiencing me. Sounds like a lot because it is but ive learned to maintain. Ive been making music since 2010, im turning 25 in a few months. My story makes me, ME! Just like your story makes you, YOU. Nobody can take that from us. Embrace it and lean allllll the way into it! Im always working on something to keep the sword sharp, I wont disclose what im working on currently but I will say im engineering an Album (From The Bottom) for a great friend of mine @sinply_sinsational. Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Its crazy because the world told me to be me, most of us experienced life at a young age and so did I. Heartbreaks, Rejections, Betrayals, etc. I never let it break me, im still me. The happy kid I was before I found out about the real world. You wont survive out here in a negative state, youll attract negativity. Rocky said it best:
“The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done. Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that!” ~ Rocky Balboa
Keep moving! If life takes your smile away, look for another reason to smile, theres always atleast 1
Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
Honestly, I wish I could say yes but I cant. People suck, im not the smartest in the world nor do I want to be. I guess I usually “help” people who dont want help. It is what it is, im not the one with the problem so oh well. I tried. Idk if its because I look like im 16 or what
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Of course it is, being me is the greatesr gift I could give to the world. Im the same on every side of the world. It works because its supposed to, just like youre supposed to be yourself. Everybody may not like you but thats irrelevant. Keep being you, never change. Also, everybody cant be wrong about the same person/thing so if you ever find out multiple people say the same thing about you, theyre probably right…probably!
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
People. I read people because im a quiet person. I sit back and observe a little too much than the average person. Ive always had more time on my hands than usual. All ill say is if you have somebody in your circle who copies you, they are inspired by you. It shouldnt be viewed negatively especially if your goal is to take over the world. Thats something only being yourself can get you…yes im speaking from personal experience
