An Inspired Chat with Taisha Andrews of Overlea

Taisha Andrews shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Taisha, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: When have you felt most loved—and did you believe you deserved it?
I felt the most loved on November 15 2016 at 4:32 pm when my first and only child was born! I have loved kids all my life and even helped raise a few but never any of my own. At the age of 39 I had my first baby boy 💙
I believe the Love is well deserved

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Taisha D Andrews most call me “Ty” I’m a bling artist. I started This business accidentally, I was driving Mta mobility and designed my money pouch with stones and ribbons. This pouch caught the attention of a lot of drivers and passengers. Before i knew It I had a request for about two money pouches a week!!! In 2012 I was injured and couldn’t drive any longer. I was out of work for an entire year. My business tripled! I had Time and started getting orders daily. Over the years my business has continued to grow. I wouldnt Change a thing I love it.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was Always this shy little girl that would hide in the background
It wasn’t until about the age of 19 I realized I had a gift! I was a beautiful African American woman with such a positive energy that everyone gravitated to.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
It’s been plenty of times when business has gotten very slow and I say I’m going to hang it up. Something always stops me! I keep Pushing ❤️

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of Ty is Ty! Point blank I’m always this soft spoken non confrontational positive person.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I pray People remember the nice things I’ve done for them. It’s not many ppl that can say that I haven’t done something nice for them. It’s just who I am
