Hi Deborah, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Traveling and embracing spontaneous adventures. It’s in those unplanned moments that I feel most present, alive, and closer to myself.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Deborah Godfrey, the Creative Director and Designer behind The Vanity Code—a clothing brand about taking pride in your appearance.
This July marked a special milestone, five years in business which I celebrated with the release of ‘I ♥️ VC’ baby tee, a fun tribute.
I see every collection as a new chapter. I’m excited to keep writing this story with even more purpose and style.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
I’d say both of my parents, as immigrants they demonstrated the value of hard work and perseverance from an early age, which deeply shaped my work ethic and drive for success.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to trust the process, it will all work out. To be patient and allow room to grow.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My close friends would say that what truly matters to me is empowering others, both creatively and mentally. Whether through my clothing brand or my path to becoming a therapist, I’m deeply committed to helping others feel confident, capable, and proud of who they are.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I believe I’m doing what I was born to do. Through my clothing brand, I’ve found a creative outlet that acknowledges taking pride in appearance and achievements. At the same time, I’m working toward becoming a licensed therapist. My purpose is to empower others, both creatively and mentally. I believe self-expression and mental well-being go hand in hand.
