Today we’d like to introduce you to Juliana Tomlinson.
Hi Juliana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m Brazilian, born and raised in Rio de Janeiro. In 2008, I came to the U.S. as an exchange student with the goal of improving my English, since I was majoring in Journalism and dreamed of becoming an international journalist. In 2009, I had the opportunity to change my visa, transfer my credits, and finish college here. A year later, I met my now husband, and we got married during my last semester of college, in October 2011.
At the time, I was majoring in Journalism with a focus on TV & Studio Production and falling in love with the media world. That’s when I decided to get a DSLR to practice my video skills, only to unexpectedly fall in love with photography. In 2012, I launched my photography business while still working for TiVo as a Content Editor.
After six years, I gave birth to my miracle baby boy and found the courage to pursue my dream, leaving the corporate world to dedicate myself to motherhood and becoming a full-time wedding photographer. Since then, I’ve grown my company into a six-figure business, expanded my offerings to include educating other photographers, photographed weddings worldwide, and become a speaker.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not. I’m an immigrant, the first in my family to earn a college degree, and I taught myself English along the way. I even had to cancel my very first visa appointment because I didn’t have enough money to pay the fee if it got approved. I had to work incredibly hard to get here… here meaning not just the U.S., but also building and running a successful business.
I’ve faced many challenges and almost gave up a few times, especially last year when I went through a very difficult burnout. But each obstacle shaped me, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a wedding photographer, speaker and coach, and I specialize in creating timeless, heartfelt imagery for couples who deeply value beauty, connection, and legacy. My clients are often planning elegant, detail-rich celebrations, and they trust me to capture their day with an eye for emotion and an artful, refined approach.
Over the years, my work has become known for its natural light, effortless posing, and the way it tells the true story of a wedding day, not just what it looked like, but what it felt like. Beyond the photographs themselves, I’m passionate about curating a seamless, elevated experience for every couple, so they can be fully present with the people they love most.
In addition to photographing weddings, I’m also a business coach and the creator of Elevate, my signature program designed to help wedding photographers refine their craft, raise their prices, and attract high-end clients. Guiding other photographers to build profitable, sustainable businesses that align with the life they want to live is one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
I’m also a speaker, and I’m deeply passionate about inspiring other creative entrepreneurs to go after their dreams with clarity and courage. Whether I’m behind the camera or on stage, my mission is the same: to help others see what’s possible and give them the tools to make it their reality.
I’m most proud of the relationships I build with couples, students, and fellow creatives and of knowing that my work doesn’t just create beautiful images, it creates ripple effects of confidence, legacy, and possibility.

I’m detail obsessed yet people-centered, combining my creative eye with a deep understanding of human connection and emotion. This allows me to create photographs that are not only beautiful, but also deeply personal and that’s what truly makes them timeless.

Couples can work with me for wedding photography, and photographers can learn from me through my signature program Elevate or 1:1 mentoring. I also love collaborating with planners, venues, and speaking at industry events to inspire creatives to go after their dreams.
