Hi Rashidah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Nearly four years ago, my mom walked into the hospital on her own two feet, but she came out in a wheelchair after many very stressful and scary months in the ICU. Overnight, her world changed. My dad became her full-time caregiver, and suddenly even the simplest thing like getting from point A to point B, was hard, stressful, and often unsafe. Traditional rideshares weren’t built for people like my parents. They needed compassion, patience, and vehicles that could truly meet their needs.
I built Kurbsy to solve their problem. What started as me trying to find a safe, reliable, and dignified way for my mom to get around quickly became a bigger mission: creating a transportation service that treats people like people first, not just transactions.
Today, Kurbsy isn’t just a business. For me, it’s personal. We train our drivers in CPR and First Aid, we keep our vehicles impeccably clean and accessible, and we lead with care. My mom and dad remain my why. Every ride we provide is about dignity, compassion, and connection because transportation is more than getting somewhere. It’s about belonging everywhere.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Any Founder knows that launching a business is going to be a really bumpy road. So, to answer this question honestly: the road to building Kurbsy has been messy and wildly humbling at times. Scaling a business while making sure every single customer feels seen and cared for is no small task. Though I have an incredible support system and have been able to hire help, as Founder, I’ve been answering phones, driving rides, fixing tech glitches, and trying to strengthen our operation; sometimes all before noon (and raising three small children, by the way). There are days when I feel pulled in ten directions at once, but those moments remind me why I started: every challenge is worth it if it means delivering dignity and safety for the people who trust us.

Kurbsy is a concierge-style transportation service built for people who are often left behind by traditional rideshare options. We specialize in safe, compassionate rides for individuals who are aging, disabled, recovering from surgery, or simply prefer a more human-centered experience. Every driver is CPR and First Aid certified, every vehicle is impeccably clean and accessible, and every ride is designed with care in mind. What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned is that while every business needs to make money, the real key is putting people first. When you focus on care, compassion, and building trust, the profits naturally follow. Leading with humanity has not only shaped Kurbsy’s brand but has also created a foundation for sustainable growth.
