Story & Lesson Highlights with Monet Wright

Monet Wright shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Monet, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
When I think about what makes me lose track of time—and find myself again—it’s the moment I step into someone’s creative world, like yours.
Imagine you in your sewing space, sunlight spilling over fabric scraps, your hands moving instinctively as you transform raw material into joy. Whether it’s a bold headwrap, a flowy sundress, or something entirely experimental, that energy is contagious. If I could exist in that rhythm—in that zone where every snip and stitch speaks purpose—I’d never notice the time passing.
And when the final piece comes together and you feel that rush of “yes, THIS is it,” that’s my reset moment. That’s when I find myself again—remembering that I exist to help people channel their joy into something real, something expressive, something lasting.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Monet—founder, mentor, strategist, and the voice behind Let Me Ask Monet. I wear many hats across workforce development, travel, tech, and entrepreneurship, but at the heart of it all is my commitment to building systems that empower people. Whether I’m launching themed cruises through Themes & Dreams Travel, mentoring job seekers through KP, or expanding The Wright Co. with wellness-forward products, I lead with intention, clarity, and joy.
Let Me Ask Monet is more than a brand—it’s a movement rooted in representation, resilience, and real talk. I share tips, reflections, and behind-the-scenes lessons from my journey as a Black woman in leadership, tech, and business. From cybersecurity insights to creative branding strategies, I help others grow with purpose and protect their digital and emotional space.
Right now, I’m focused on scaling my travel campaigns, launching pre-orders for hemp and THC wellness bundles, and streamlining referral workflows to better serve our community. Every project I touch is infused with storytelling, strategy, and soul.
You can catch my latest reflections and tips on YouTube—and if you’re building something bold, you already know what to do: Let Me Ask Monet.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband. My best friend. My cheerleader.
Before I truly recognized my own brilliance, purpose, and resilience, he saw it—clearly, consistently, and without hesitation. He believed in my vision when it was just a whisper, cheered for me when the wins were quiet, and held up a mirror that reflected not only who I was, but who I was becoming.
His love didn’t just lift me—it revealed me. And because he saw me with such clarity and conviction, I learned to see myself that way too.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely—and it was recent.
Over the past two years, I was unemployed. Despite all my drive, talent, and vision, I hit rock bottom. The kind of low where even believing in yourself starts to feel like a full-time job. The kind where dreams start to gather dust.
But I didn’t stay there. I didn’t give up.
Instead, I rebuilt. I launched new ventures. I created purpose out of pain—helping others even while navigating my own healing. I stepped back into my power as a founder, mentor, strategist, and creator. And now, everything I touch carries that story: of survival, strength, and unapologetic transformation.
So yes, I almost gave up. But I chose to rise. And I’m still rising.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Workforce development—that’s the belief I’m committed to, no matter how long it takes, because it’s more than just a project. It’s my purpose.
I believe that every person deserves a clear path to empowerment, not just employment. Through mentorship, strategic partnerships, and systemic reform, I’ve made it my mission to build bridges—especially for those who’ve been overlooked or underestimated. Whether it’s streamlining referral workflows for DORS, coaching through KP, or building onboarding systems that respect each participant’s journey, I’m here for the long game.
Workforce development is how I protect potential. It’s how I dismantle barriers with intention and rebuild with empathy, equity, and clarity. The impact isn’t measured in quick wins—it’s in lasting transformation.
So yes, this belief takes time. And I’m right where I belong: doing the work, shaping the future, and making sure nobody gets left behind.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
They’ll probably think it all came easy. That the businesses, partnerships, and wins just fell into place. But what they won’t see are the late nights, the silent tears, and the moments I questioned everything.
What they might misunderstand about my legacy is how much hustle it took—how many times I had to push through when nothing made sense. My journey has been built on resilience, sweat, and sacrifice. I didn’t inherit this purpose—I earned it. Email by email, referral by referral, rebuilding confidence piece by piece.
I’ve worked with integrity, even when no one was watching. And every success? It’s stitched with the setbacks I turned into strategy. So if they miss the struggle, that’s okay. Because the impact speaks loud enough.
