dasean mack shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

dasean, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Well first thing that I do is i get up and pray, talking to god is usually the first thing on my mind, I’ll then check my emails for any inquires and also check socials as well. After that i write down the Bible verse for the day and also some goals/ affirmations for myself

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Dasean Mack/Daetimevisuals, and I’m a photographer based in Baltimore, Maryland, specializing in graduation and studio portraiture. My brand is built on clean, bold visuals and a lighting style that brings every subject to life. What makes my work unique is the intentional way I blend emotion, precision, and storytelling — I don’t just take photos, I capture milestones that feel powerful and personal. I’m currently focused on elevating my content and behind-the-scenes process, helping others understand what goes into creating professional-level images. Every shoot is an opportunity to grow, create, and set myself apart in a saturated industry.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My parents definitely saw me clearly before I could see myself. They always recognized something in me — whether it was my creativity, drive, or attention to detail — long before I ever knew how to turn it into something real. Even when I was unsure or doubting my path, they stayed supportive and reminded me of my potential. Their belief in me planted the seeds that grew into the confidence I have today as an artist and business owner.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self, “You’re not behind — you’re just building.” It’s so easy to feel like you’re late or not doing enough, especially when you’re figuring things out. But every step, every mistake, every slow season — it’s all part of the foundation. Stay patient, stay focused, and trust that your work will speak when the time is right.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
One truth that’s foundational for me is that God’s timing is always better than mine. I don’t always say it out loud, but it’s something I lean on constantly — especially in moments of doubt or delay. Another truth is that consistency beats talent when talent isn’t focused. I’ve seen firsthand how staying the course, even quietly, opens doors that rushing or forcing things never could. Those beliefs keep me grounded and guide how I move in both life and business.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes — and that’s something I had to learn early on. Praise feels good, but it can’t be the reason you show up and give your all. There were times I was putting in work, improving, staying up late, and no one was clapping for it. But I kept going because I knew I owed it to myself to honor the gift God gave me. The real win isn’t the praise — it’s looking at your work and knowing you didn’t cheat the process. That’s what builds longevity.
