Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Pearl L. Harmon.
Hi Dr. Pearl L., we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story is really two journeys woven into one.
On one path, I spent nearly 30 years in education—as a teacher, principal, principal supervisor, and HR director. Leadership was always my heartbeat: helping people grow, building systems that work, and guiding others to their fullest potential.
On the other path, I quietly carried another title: “family caregiver”. For more than 15 years, I cared for my parents, especially my mother, as she faced Alzheimer’s. That season brought with it sleepless nights, endless appointments, and the guilt of wondering if I was ever doing enough. It was exhausting, heartbreaking, and at times, isolating.
And then came a realization that changed everything: the very leadership skills I had honed in school and central office, conflict resolution, time management, delegation, and project planning, were the same tools that helped me survive caregiving. Leadership wasn’t separate from caregiving; it was the bridge that carried me through.
That’s how “Aging Care Navigators” was born. Drawing on my lived experience and professional expertise, I created a space for women like me —professional women balancing careers, caregiving, and everything else. Women who are strong but tired. Capable, but stretched thin. My mission is simple: to provide them with tools, strategies, and a community, so they can move forward with both strength and grace.
Because caregiving doesn’t have to mean crumbling. It can mean leading with resilience, compassion, and the confidence to thrive in both life and care.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been anything but smooth, and that’s precisely what makes this work so meaningful.
Like so many caregivers, I wrestled with:
Burnout – The constant stress of managing my mother’s care while working full-time drained my health, my energy, and sometimes even my hope.
Lack of resources – I didn’t know where to start with legal, medical, or financial planning. Each decision felt urgent, yet I was always scrambling.
Time pressure – Every day was a race, caregiving, work deadlines, doctor’s appointments, and household responsibilities. There was never enough time, only more to do.
Guilt – No matter how much I gave, it never felt like enough, for my parents, for my family, for my career, or for myself.
If you’re nodding as you read this, it’s because you’ve felt it too. That invisible weight. That quiet exhaustion. That voice that whispers, “you should be doing more.”
Here’s what I know now: you are already doing more than enough. And you don’t have to do it alone.
Those struggles shaped me. They gave me empathy that isn’t theoretical; it’s lived. And they sparked my mission: to build tools, resources, and communities where caregivers don’t feel invisible but instead feel supported, strengthened, and seen.
Because the truth is simple: you deserve a way to keep caregiving without crumbling.
Caregiving will always bring challenges, but it doesn’t have to cost you your health, your joy, or your sense of self. My mission is to show women that it’s possible to honor their loved ones while also protecting their own well-being.
With the right tools, strategies, and community, you can move from barely holding it together to feeling steady, supported, and strong. That’s what Caregiving Without Crumbling™ is all about.
As you know, we’re big fans of Aging Care Navigators . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Aging Care Navigators (ACN) was built for the women who quietly hold everything together, the professionals who spend their days leading at work and their nights caring for aging parents. These women are strong, but often overwhelmed, exhausted, and unsure of the next step. ACN exists to meet them in that moment with compassion, clarity, and a plan for the future.
We provide caregiver coaching, customized toolkits, guided journals, planners, books, workshops, and advocacy, practical and emotional resources designed to help women care for their loved ones without losing themselves.
What sets us apart is our unique perspective: we reframe caregiving through a “leadership lens”. Instead of feeling powerless, caregivers learn to apply skills they already have: problem-solving, delegation, and project management to their caregiving journey. The result? “Caregiving Without Crumbling”™ Less burnout. More balance. And the confidence to lead with both resilience and compassion.
I’m most proud that we don’t just talk about caregiving in surface-level terms. We speak the unspoken: burnout, guilt, stress, and exhaustion. And then we provide real strategies to ease those burdens. From our “Gratitude Journal for Caregivers” to our monthly Caregivers Connect sessions, every offering is designed with one purpose to remind women: “you are not alone, and your well-being matters too.”
At the core, **Aging Care Navigators is not just a brand; it’s a movement**. A movement that says caregiving doesn’t have to mean crumbling. It can mean leading with strength, living with purpose, and thriving in the moments that matter most.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
