We recently had the chance to connect with Meg Leonard and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Meg, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
The confidence to really go for it, no matter what phase they’re in.
Whether it’s starting a business, adding a new service, raising your rates, or stepping into a more elevated version of what you already do, there’s this quiet fear that maybe you’re not actually ready. That maybe you’re not skilled or worthy enough to take up space, be seen, or charge for the magic you bring.
I work with founders and creatives at all phases and levels, and the commonality they share is that silently, they are asking: “Who am I to do this?”
The truth is that if the thought is even crossing your mind, you are ready. Confidence rarely shows up fully formed—it’s built by doing the “thing” scared, awkward, imperfect. Then doing it again. I’ve seen it time and time again with my clients. Only you are standing in the way of turning an idea or passion into a real business and confidence grows when you trust yourself enough to take the leap—even before you feel ready.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Meg Leonard. Designer, Brand Strategist, Mom and Founder of Meg Leonard Co. I run a one-woman studio where I help people bring their vision to life through branding, web design, and interiors that feel layered and wildly intentional.
I work with founders, creatives and homeowners who are ready to elevate: whether that means a visual identity that finally feels like them, a website that does more than just look good, or a home that meets their needs with beautiful intention. It’s all about designing strategically for where you’re going, not just where you’ve been.
My background is rooted in design and marketing, but my work is shaped by real life: building a business from scratch, raising a toddler, renovating a home in between client calls, and creating content that’s equal parts aesthetically pleasing and honest. Outside of the studio, over on Instagram @megleonardco, you’ll find a mix of styling moments, partnerships I’m proud of, and the behind-the-scenes of what it actually looks like to grow something from the ground up.
After taking my studio full time a year ago, I’m focused on deeper, more holistic projects—ones that merge brand and space, voice and visuals. My overarching goal is always the same: help people step into their next chapter with the clarity and confidence to create something that is genuinely them, bettering their lives. What fulfills me most is not choosing just one path as my career has shaped up. I love that my days are never the same: branding one moment, styling a room the next, because it means I get to show up creatively, fully, and in a way that actually reflects who I am.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
In my work and within personal relationships—whether I’m designing a brand, building a website, creating a home or navigating personal situations—what breaks connection most often is a lack of clear, open communication. When people stop expressing their needs, stop listening, or assume they’re not being heard, that’s when things unravel. It’s not always loud or dramatic, sometimes it’s subtle. A missed cue. A quiet resentment. A client unsure how to voice what they really want.
But what restores those bonds, every time, is empathy and service. When you lead with curiosity instead of ego. When you genuinely want to understand before being understood, you create space for trust to come back in. That’s what design is really about for me. Not just making things beautiful, but making people feel seen and supported through the process, all while stepping up as an honest expert.
The best work happens when communication is clear, expectations are shared, and the relationship feels like a true collaboration. That’s when the real magic—creative and human—happens.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You don’t have to have it all figured out to begin. You’re allowed to grow into your voice, your confidence, and your path. None of it has to look like anyone else’s.
The overthinking, the self-doubt, the feeling like you have to earn your place at every table? Let it go. You’re already more capable, creative, and intuitive than you realize. The sooner you trust that and stop allowing others to define you, the sooner everything starts to unfold.
Also, rest is productive. And that gut feeling? It’s usually right.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Respect—especially when it comes to people’s time, energy, creativity, and trust.
I protect a culture where honoring your word actually means something. Whether it’s a deadline, a design process, or a shared vision—I believe in showing up fully, communicating clearly, and following through. In a world that’s often moving too fast and overpromising everything, I value slowing down enough to deliver what I said I would, with care.
It’s not just about being reliable, it’s about creating a space where people feel safe, seen, and supported. Respect builds trust. Trust builds momentum. And that’s what makes the work not just good, but meaningful.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
Not being fully in the moments that matter.
I know I’d regret letting the ambition take over the memories. Missing the little things because I was too buried in building the big ones. I’m building something I’m proud of, but not at the cost of the life I’m doing it for.
At the same time, I’d regret not fully going for it—creatively, professionally, as a woman who knows what she’s capable of. So for me, it’s about honoring both. Creating a business with boundaries. Bucketing my time so I can be present in work and in motherhood. Protecting dinner, weekends, and the messy in-between, while still holding space to dream big and build bold.
Balance might not mean equal parts, but it is possible when you define success on your own terms. I want to grow my family, grow my business, and capture as much of it as I can, with open hands and a full heart.
