Ben, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
Reflecting on my career as a cooking instructor and former restaurant owner, I’d say there have been instances where not rushing into decisions allowed me to refine my ideas and approach.
In the culinary word, timing and patience can be just as important as creativity and innovation. On particular instance that comes to mind is when I was planning a new cooking course. Initially, I was eager to launch it quickly, but taking a step back and giving myself more time allowed me to perfect the curriculum and ensure it met my high standard. This ultimately led to more successful and well received program. So, in that sense, as it gave me the opportunity to create something truly special.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My brand is built around sharing the art of French cuisine through cooking instruction, drawing on decades of experience in restaurant management and ownership.
What makes it special is the blend of traditional techniques with a passion for teaching, allowing students to develop their skills and appreciation for fine cooking. My story is one of dedication to the culinary arts, and my work is driven by a desire to pass on my knowledge and expertise to others.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My experiences in the culinary word, starting from my early days and growing through my own business ventures, have significantly shaped who I am today. I could say that my journey, marked by dedication and perseverance in the culinary industry, has been the most influential in defining my perspective and approach to cooking and teaching.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering can be a catalyst for growth, allowing us to re-evaluate priorities and find new meaning.
It can also foster empathy and compassion, giving us a deeper understanding of others who may be going through similar struggles. Sometimes, it’s in the darkest moments that we discover our profound lessons and insights.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
One area where smart people might be getting it wrong is in understanding the importance of human intuition and emotional intelligence in decision-making, relying too heavily on data and analytics instead. Another area could be overlooking the long-term consequences of technological advancements without considering their ethical implications.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
My customers would likely miss my signature dishes, the personal attention I bring to every meal, and the way I’ve made French cuisine feel approachable and enjoyable for them.
They’d probably miss the warm, welcoming atmosphere I’ve created in my place , and most of all, they’d miss the personal connection and the sense of community that comes with teaching at my establishment.
