Taylor Tefft on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Taylor Tefft. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I am chasing financial freedom. Working to make money, then invest money into assets that cash flow or have actual value such as real estate. Stopping is not an option. I see stopping as quitting.. I am trying to build generational wealth for my kids and family and by stopping I would be letting them down in my eyes.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Taylor, I own One Call Logistics which is a transportation brokerage specializing in transporting RV’s, Auto mobiles, Boats, Tiny Homes, and Disaster Related Units. The transportation world is very unique in my opinion. There are so many moving parts to each load that has to be moved and often times it is over looked. Having a reliable transport broker in your corner is the key to ensuring your loads are moving on time, smoothly, and safely. I started out back in 2018 from my small home in New Smyrna Beach and gradually grew over the years. Our office now is located in DeLand FL and we have 15 employees here and 5 others in Guatemala. One Call Logistics is known for going the extra miles for our customers. We handle each customer with care and create a customized plan for their move. I am always working on growing and finding new niches. When I am not working (which isn’t very often) I am searching for real estate deals to invest into and traveling with my family.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
Growing up I always saw my family working. My parents always worked full time jobs and did enough to make ends meet. I don’t think I really understood work until I opened up my own business and realized what it actually takes to get your name out there and grow. I started reading and listening to audio books and quickly realized that I wasn’t doing enough work to get the results I was expecting. After reading many books from Grant Cardone, Gary Vee, and many others is when i realized the most about working and building a solid business. My first few years in business all I did was invest into my business and personal development to get my mindset right. I attended work shops and conferences and eventually really started putting the pieces together. Overall I think that having someone to look up to/coach you to get to the next level really teaches you the most about work and what is needed to be successful..

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would say to keep going and don’t look back. I think a lot of times we look at others success or those who are ahead of us and compare which you can’t do.. That’s hard to say BUT it’s very important to celebrate the wins you are achieving and the growth of where you are currently at.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
A project I am committed to no matter how long it takes is owning 25 rental units..
This is a task itself.. I have 16 more to go to get there and I think once I get close I will increase my goal to 50.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
I feel like investing in real estate is a long term investment that I constantly have to remind myself on. While there are tax benefits, and monthly cash flow that is seen now, the real win comes later down the road when the home is paid off or you can utilize the positive equity in the home to then buy more..
