Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Crow.
Hi Brian, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up outside of DC surrounded by the rhythm of the entertainment business and the vibe that can only come from our Nation’s Capital. My parents had a band that traveled often, and whenever I could, I tagged along—soaking in the energy of live performance, the connection with audiences, and the behind-the-scenes hustle it took to put on a great show. Those early experiences planted the seed for a lifelong passion for music and entertainment.
Over the years, I explored many corners of the industry, working in TV production, radio, movies, and the music business as a producer. But it was DJing that became my true calling—a craft I’ve honed for over 28 years, turning it into a full-time career. Today, I specialize in weddings and corporate events, blending music in a way that keeps dance floors alive while making sure every event reflects the unique vision of my clients.
Before going full-time in entertainment, I also worked in the blue-collar world, particularly in printing. There, I learned valuable skills in design and marketing—tools that became instrumental in building and branding Crow Entertainment into the thriving, family-owned business it is today.
Outside of work, my heart is in serving others. I volunteer at my church and, together with my wife, serve in a marriage mentoring program. We help engaged couples prepare for marriage by learning more about themselves and each other, and we walk alongside married couples who need encouragement and support in their relationship. I’m not just in the wedding business, I want marriages to last!
Looking back, my journey has been a blend of creativity, hard work, and a deep commitment to people. Whether it’s behind the DJ booth, helping a couple plan the best day of their lives, or mentoring them through life’s challenges, my goal has always been the same—create moments that matter and relationships that last.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t think anything truly successful ever has a smooth road behind it—or ahead of it. In my business, we often deal with arrogance, egos, and sadly, those personal battles that can rob people of their talent. Along the way, you build a team, weed out the bad fits, and keep moving forward.
Our business is based in Maryland, which presents its own challenges due to high taxes, poor leadership in Annapolis, and a lack of attention to small businesses. Simply put, Maryland is not small-business-friendly.
That said, my team and I work hard to stay ahead, and we persevere. There is joy in every event we do, and that joy far outweighs the struggles of running a business in a state that doesn’t make it easy.
We’ve been impressed with Crow Entertainment LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Crow Entertainment is a family-owned, full-time entertainment company that has been serving the DMV area for over 28 years. We specialize in professional DJ services for weddings and corporate events, but what truly sets us apart is how deeply we personalize every celebration. Our goal isn’t just to play music—it’s to create an atmosphere that reflects each client’s unique vision, keeps the dance floor full, and leaves guests talking about the experience long after the night ends.
We’re known for our attention to detail, our ability to read and engage a crowd, and our commitment to working closely with clients from the very first consultation to the final song of the night. Because DJing is my full-time profession—not just a side gig—clients get the benefit of experience, preparation, and a dedicated team that lives and breathes event entertainment.
What I’m most proud of, brand-wise, is the reputation we’ve built over nearly three decades—one rooted in professionalism, reliability, and genuine care for the people we serve. We don’t believe in cookie-cutter playlists or one-size-fits-all events. Instead, we invest the time to understand what matters most to our clients, and then we deliver an event that exceeds their expectations.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that success in this business—and in life—isn’t just about talent, it’s about people. Skills can open doors, but relationships, integrity, and consistency are what keep them open. Over the years, I’ve seen how arrogance and ego can ruin even the most gifted individuals, so I’ve made it a priority to surround myself with people who share the same work ethic, humility, and commitment to excellence that I look for in people.
I’ve also learned that challenges—whether they come from industry competition, economic climates, or even the hurdles of running a small business in a tough environment—are opportunities to adapt and grow. When you keep your focus on serving people well, creating moments that matter, and staying true to your values, you can push through almost anything.
In short, the journey taught me that relationships outlast trends, hard work beats luck, and joy in your work makes every challenge worth it.
