Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany McCarty.
Hi Tiffany, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am 34 and I started playing soccer at a very young age. I also ran track as well. Sports has been a big part of my life and it has taken me around the world to places like Japan, Iceland, Norway, Argentina, Spain, and many more. I am a professional soccer player who took some time off to focus on my mental health and now I am energized and ready to jump back into professional soccer again. During my hiatus, I drove into the mental health field. I am a crisis counselor and a Registered Behavior Tech. I love it because I can relate on so many levels to the people I support.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve had a lot of struggles in life and in sports but I have always found a way to bounce back. My mental health got to a really dark place but with the support of my family, friends, and my faith I have come a long way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a crisis counselor currently while I train to play pro again. I’m mostly known for playing soccer. I went to Florida State University. Most soccer people call me Tiff or T-Mac though.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I would say there is no shame in asking for help and get back on your feet and get back out there. You are stronger than you know.
