Inspiring Conversations with Kezia Robinson of Oona Studios

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kezia Robinson.

Hi Kezia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It’s a long and interesting story but I’ll give the short version. I’ve always been a dreamer and loved stories. Growing up, I would write and illustrate my own books for fun. I had the concept of running some type of creative business since I was in highschool. In college, I thought it was going to be an animation and video game studio. I’m still open to the animation idea but eventually it shaped into marketing and communication. I felt that owning my own business would allow for more creative freedom. I still have a day job in public affairs, and I’m allowed to be innovative. My goal is to drive innovation everywhere I go.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not lol! I’ve started and stopped many times on my journey. I think the biggest struggle was staying motivated when things felt stagnant. Sometimes, especially as a creative, it can feel like you’re hitting a brick wall. But my desire to see what was next helped me to breakthrough the wall.

We’ve been impressed with Oona Studios, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We’re a marketing company that works with small to medium sized businesses and non-profits. Our goal number #1 goal is to tell stories. We mainly do this through social media marketing, but we’re exploring more options. I think that it’s important to be innovative especially nowadays where people’s attention spans are shorter and they’re more likely to go with what’s familiar to them. Organizations have to find ways to tell their unique stories and cut through the noise. That’s where my company comes in. We do the hard work, so you don’t have to.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
This is a difficult question lol. I think people would be surprised by how bold I am. I like to embrace things that make me uncomfortable instead of running away from them. I’m fairly laid back and a situational introvert so it’s not really something that anyone expects.
