Exploring Life & Business with Jackie Stanton of Area 2 Farms

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Stanton.

Hi Jackie , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Area 2 Farms began with a simple mission, to “move the farm, and NOT the food”. This mission seeks to revolutionize local food systems, empowering farmers and communities to come together as the source of fresh, local food. It was founded by farmers who have extensive experience building some of the most innovative agriculture businesses in the world, for people and not distributors. Area 2 Farms started with a single organic farm in Arlington, VA and is currently working to build a farm within 10 miles of 90% of the U.S. population.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the case of Area 2 Farms we’ve been enthusiastically supported by the local community, local and state leaders and are so honored to be welcomed into hundreds of homes every week as a neighbor, not just a farm.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
When Area 2 Farms was founded in Arlington, VA, it began with a vision to revolutionize urban agriculture by delivering local, organic produce within a 10-mile radius. We want the food that our CSA customers eat to be harvested hours ago, not days or weeks as is often the case. We don’t think farms should be a mystery. We love to have everyone who wants to visit, come in and see exactly where and how your greens, herbs, and more can be grown just down the road. From humble roots, we’ve grown into Arlington’s trusted source for organic greens, and community pride, and soon will be coming to a neighborhood near you. Look out for our next location opening at the end of 2025.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Most people familiar with Area 2 Farms’ CSA might no know about our Feed the Brain program.

We continue to deepen our connection with the local community through consistent, meaningful engagement. In the first half of 2025, we have welcomed over 1,500 students to the farm.

We support dozens of schools across the DMV with our “Feed the Brain” program. More info on the program can be found here: https://www.area2farms.com/products/feed-the-brain but in short every harvest purchased can lead to a donation for a local K-12 school.
