Rising Stars: Meet Grace Brown of Baltimore County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Brown.

Hi Grace, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I went to an arts high school, and we would put on these huge, elaborate fashion shows, and that’s basically where I started my modeling career.

Honestly, I didn’t take modeling seriously until 2020, and even then, it was more of a hobby. I genuinely had no idea I’d eventually get signed, be on national television, or even walk in NYFW.

If I had told 2019 Grace that this would be her path, she would be confused. Modeling wasn’t in the original plan for me. I thought I was going to graduate from UArts with my degree in dance and eventually dance for a contemporary ballet company. But I think God and the pandemic had other plans for me.

As tough as it’s been, I’m truly grateful for where I am in my life right now. Even though it wasn’t what I intended, I know God has bigger and better plans for me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oof, uhhh yeah—it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road for me. The biggest obstacle has been myself, truthfully. I’m a huge perfectionist. I’m super critical of myself and tend to overanalyze to the point where I almost paralyze myself. They call it ‘Analysis Paralysis.’

This is actually an obstacle I’m currently working on, choosing not to let fear stop me from going after opportunities and putting myself out there, despite my internal doubts.

But I’m learning to love myself and give myself grace (no pun intended), especially in an industry like this. I mean, I should be my biggest supporter, right?!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a freelance graphic designer and social media coordinator. Right now, my brother and I are launching a creative branding agency together. He’s an incredible videographer and photographer (shoutout to Andre! @a.ndre3 on Instagram). We work really well together, and I’m so excited to team up on some amazing projects.

One thing I’m most proud of is staying true to my creative self across all of my lanes, whether that’s dancing, modeling, or designing. I always try to come back to my roots and focus on what genuinely brings me joy.

I’m not sure if this necessarily sets me apart, but I think my ability to connect with people behind the scenes or through my creative work is what really matters to me. At the end of the day, I just want to leave people inspired and moved.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
God deserves all of the credit literally none of this would be possible without Him. Even when I want to have control, it’s just not possible.

My family ❤️ They’ve been incredibly supportive throughout my journey. From coming to New York with me for castings to encouraging me to go after what I want… I LOVE Y’ALL SO MUCH!!!

To my friends—my village ❤️ Thank you for continuously inspiring me and loving me. I don’t say this often enough, but thank you for pushing me—even when I get defensive or don’t want to hear it. Thank you for challenging me to become a better individual and creative.

And a special thank you to my Auntie Allison. I’m so grateful that she pushed me during my freshman year of high school to audition for the fashion show. From helping me pick out my first REAL big girl heels to practicing my walk in the living room, channeling my inner Sasha Fierce. She was there through it all. I genuinely don’t think I would’ve even considered modeling if it weren’t for her. So, thank you, Auntie, for seeing something in me that I didn’t yet see in myself.
