Today we’d like to introduce you to The Stewart Brothers.
The Stewart Brothers , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
So as we were growing up at Grace AME Church in Catonsville, Maryland. Gary started out playing drums and then Aaron followed. Then Gary started playing piano and then Aaron started playing the bass guitar. Then Gary moved to the organ and Aaron started singing. We both took music lessons at the Bills Music House in Catonsville, Maryland. In 2011, we did our first concert we knew that God had blessed us with something special. The next few years, we spent years at Morgan State University where we grew so much musically. In 2018, the Lord gave Gary a vision about how we should have a Hymn Service where we sang the Hymns of the Church. We had a Hymn Service and then the we had a packed house where people couldn’t even get in the building. Then we had an another one in 2019 and then we had another house. After that, we were inspired to finally start recording. We released our debut single, “Lift Him Up” in August of 2020. Then we released our Debut Album, “Encounter Hymn” on February 19th, 2021. And on April 26th, we will be recording our Sophomore Album, “Hymn Revival”.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No it has not been a smooth road. Some struggles include, self doubt, self insecurity, trying to balance family.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We do music! We specialize in Gospel music. We are known for doing Hymns. We are most proud of the impact that we have made with our music and we are most proud of our debut Album, “Encounter Hymn”
What were you like growing up?
We were good kids growing up. Our parents, Rev. Gary Stewart, Sr. and Mrs. Arlette Stewart made sure that we were raised with respect, integrity and a love for God. Gary as the older brother, was the more laid back, focused and driven one. Aaron, as the younger brother was the more energetic, more spoiled one. We played sports which were baseball and basketball.

- Aaron has married to Makayla Stewart since 2024 and they are expecting their first child which is due for October 2025.
