Briana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Since I was younger I have always found fashion and beauty fun. Watching my grandmother and mother prepare for church, work or special event is when I started being curious about Makeup. my first time getting my makeup done for my best-friend homecoming at the mall was the spark for me. So, I started playing in makeup. My mother and grandmother started to buy me makeup. In high school I started wearing makeup and my favorite compliment was my eyebrows and lip choices. 2016 my father passed away and grief became heavy I need it something to Channel my emotions in. I met my coworker Shakima who now my close friend , who believed in me and challenged me to step out on faith and take my passion for makeup and make it a business so I did it. She was my first client. She got me my first 5 clients ever and my business has took off since then. It’s been almost 8 years now. I have been a traveling self taught makeup artist. Makeup saved my life, after my dads death I was ready to check out but God, I found something thats truly fulfilling
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road business got quiet, no one booked for a whole. I felt overlooked and I didn’t think I was good enough anymore.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Baltimore/ DMV Makeup Artist. I specialize in Special event and Bridal glam. I am known for my soft and sultry glams. I am proud of how far I’ve come in business itself knowing the importance of branding yourself, being professional and standing on business. What sets me apart is my humility and always willing to learn and the passion, care I have toward my clients.
What’s next?
I would love to start teaching more about makeup and business. I would love to own my own beauty bar to have a home for my beautiful clients to come to.
