Hi Kathleen, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my journey in the music business in 1998, managing bands and navigating the industry from the ground up. One of the bands I worked with had their music featured in a cartoon that aired at the Sundance Film Festival, which sparked my deeper interest in the business side of music. Through this experience, I learned the importance of publishing, sync licensing, metadata, and copyright registration to ensure artists collect all available royalties.
In 2017, I founded Code 3 Records Artist Services with a mission to help independent artists take control of their music careers. By providing essential business support, I empower artists to maximize their earnings and protect their creative work in an ever-evolving industry.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a journey with its fair share of challenges along the way. There have been trials and errors, but each obstacle has led to growth and valuable lessons.
