Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Warnick.
Hi Krystal, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I may be showing my age here, but I originally graduated from nursing school in 2010. I earned my Licensed Practical Nurse certificate from Anne Arundel Community College (AACC), went on to get my RN from there in 2016, and graduated summa cum laude with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Walden University in 2018.
I spent 12 years working in pediatrics, and while I’ve transitioned into aesthetics, I still work in pediatrics on an as-needed basis because it will always have a special place in my heart.
I also want to acknowledge how grateful I am for where I got my start in aesthetics—K. Stewart Beauty and Wellness. I currently work there, and the support I’ve received from Keiana and the entire team has been incredible. Jenn, our front desk coordinator, is truly my right hand—she keeps everything running smoothly and makes my day-to-day so much easier. And Carli, our nurse practitioner, is approachable and always willing to help. I’m lucky to work alongside such a supportive team.
As a plus-size nurse, I felt like I didn’t fit the typical aesthetic industry mold, and that made me question whether I’d be taken seriously in this field. No one ever said anything directly—but I feel there’s an unspoken pressure in this industry to look a certain way, and that was something I definitely struggled with at first.
Over time, though, I’ve come to realize that what truly matters is the care, knowledge, and trust you bring to each client. I’ve even had clients tell me they feel more comfortable and connected with me because I’m relatable. They appreciate seeing someone who doesn’t necessarily have the “perfect” aesthetic look but still understands beauty, confidence, and how to help them feel their best.
I’ve always been drawn to aesthetics, and making the switch felt like the perfect way to combine my nursing background with my passion for helping people feel confident in their own skin. Over the past three years, I’ve built my skills in a variety of treatments, including Hydrafacials, microneedling, laser treatments, and, more recently, Botox injections.
Whether I’m in the treatment room or creating educational content, I truly love what I do and feel grateful to be in a career where I get to make people feel like the best version of themselves.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has helped shape the way I show up for my clients today.
I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, which explained a lot of the difficulties I had staying focused and organized, especially in such a demanding field. On top of that, I live with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), a condition that affects blood flow and causes symptoms like dizziness, fatigue, brain fog, and a rapid heart rate when standing. It’s something I quietly manage every single day.
Because of my POTS, I sweat a lot while working—so most days, you’ll catch me with my hair up in a bun and a headband on. I’ve had to learn how to pace myself, manage my energy, and be intentional about how I structure my day. I can’t always work as many hours as I’d like, but when I’m in the treatment room, I give it my all.
It’s taken a lot of patience and self-compassion to get here, but these challenges have given me a deeper understanding of what it means to show up for others—even when things aren’t perfect behind the scenes.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an aesthetic nurse who specializes in helping clients feel confident and comfortable in their own skin. I offer a range of treatments including Hydrafacials, microneedling, chemical peels, laser hair removal, IV hydration, intramuscular (IM) injections like semaglutide, glutathione, and B12, and neuromodulator injections like Botox. I also try to keep my aesthetic business page on Instagram updated with current and easy-to-understand information about each service I perform, so clients always know what to expect.
What sets me apart most is the connection I build with my clients. I’m down-to-earth, approachable, and I really take my time to educate people on the why behind each treatment. I want my clients to feel empowered, supported, and truly cared for—not just sold to. I’ve had so many people tell me they feel comfortable with me right away, and that trust means everything.
I’m especially proud of the results my clients have achieved—not just physically, but in how they carry themselves after. I’ve been lucky to witness so many beautiful transformations and confidence boosts that it’s honestly hard to pick just one standout story.
I also think showing up authentically has played a huge role in my success. In an industry that often emphasizes a certain image, I think clients appreciate being treated by someone who is real, relatable, and genuinely invested in their well-being—inside and out.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something surprising that most people wouldn’t guess about me is that I’m actually pretty introverted and have a terrible fear of public speaking. I love connecting with clients one-on-one, and I think I come across as confident and talkative in that setting, so people are usually shocked when I tell them how nervous I get speaking in front of a group. Put me in a room with a client, and I can talk all day about skincare and aesthetics—but ask me to give a presentation, and I suddenly forget how to form sentences!
Also, as a fun bonus fact—I love watching pimple-popping videos. There’s just something so satisfying about them!
