Life & Work with Ron Living of Baltimore, MD

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ron Living.

Ron, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m Ron Living, a recording artist who grew up in Severn, MD. I started off recording and releasing my own demo tapes as early as high school, and been distributing on a more professional level since 2018. I’m the founder of Sacrifice Meals Society, the brand commonly known as SMS. It was established in 2012 as a music production group, and has since elevated to management and merchandise. I’m on a personal journey, growing with my art and literature; while bringing more awareness to the underground scene here in Baltimore.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say the biggest obstacle has been the journey itself. Whether it’s constantly working hard, and not getting the results you expected. Or people telling you what you should do. You’ll always have to trust yourself, and what’s on your heart. Be authentic, and stand on your beliefs. Overnight success should never be expected, in any field. But knowing how to navigate after discouragement and failures will always challenge you. Getting through it can be difficult. But once you do, it’ll feel very rewarding and well deserved. Many times, you’ll have to be your biggest supporter and not worry about what you don’t have. The less I worried, the more freely I created; the more successful I became.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I would say I specialize in traditional Hip Hop, with a more modern approach. I’m known for being an open book, whether through Hip Hop culture and knowledge, or sharing personal experiences and mistakes that I could help others avoid. There’s nothing new under the sun, especially in rap music. You don’t have to follow trends, there’s plenty of ways to stay original. Staying myself has always set me apart from others. Which is why I’m most proud of my recent project, “Tomorrow Never Happened”

How do you define success?
I would say success is inspiring others. Especially, when doing things on your own terms. Being able to wake up, in good health. Doing what you love every day, while getting compensated for it. Being able to help others, and support your family. And for me, having more assets than liabilities. Everybody’s definition will always be different. But once I experienced different things in life, my views changed as well. Along with age and wisdom.
