Meet Rose Hamlin of Baltimore County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Hamlin.

Hi Rose, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Rose Hamlin, I’m a wife, a mother, a MD Realtor and Commercial Loan Officer. My family is the driving force behind everything I do—they’re my WHY. Every day I wake up, I aim to be a little better than I was the day before, in whatever way I can. I read and study often, and outside of my family and friends, I find deep fulfillment in my real estate career.

I’ve had an interest in real estate for many years. Initially, I just wanted to invest, but over time, my reasons expanded—I wanted to create real generational wealth for myself and people in my peer group, to meet new people, help simplify the concept of buying & selling real estate, and helping everyday working people to secure their financial future at any age.

As a kid, I watched my mother, who was an investor and broker, buy her first property when I was about nine years old. We lived in it for a few years, and she eventually fixed it up and flipped it for a profit—that marked the beginning of her career as an investor. Watching her succeed in what was once a male-dominated industry gave me something to be proud of. I didn’t realize it at the time, but that’s when the seed were planted. I also had several family members that were in the construction and home improvement fields.

Years later, my passion for this industry grew. At the time, I was a new mom working office jobs doing admin work to make ends meet. I later took a job with The Baltimore Sun delivering newspapers, which meant being up during the late nights and early morning hours. Those quiet moments gave me a lot of time to reflect on what I wanted out of life. I became obsessed with the idea of becoming a flipper. But after having my daughter, I chose a path that felt a bit more secure. Instead of diving into house flipping, I took a “safe job” doing security at Johns Hopkins and enrolled in community college to pursue an associate degree in nursing.

That summer, I had just finished taking microbiology and had one last prerequisite before entering the nursing program. But in between semesters, I decided to take real estate classes instead. My reason at the time was simple: I wanted to create better experiences for people—myself included—when buying or selling a home.

So I spent every weekend August of that year, taking classes. Then I made a decision
, just before the fall semester began, I dropped my nursing classes and committed to real estate. I passed the state exam, and from that moment on, I never looked back. I realized I was exactly where I was meant to be. I love everything about this industry—especially the positive impact I get to have on people’s lives. Seeing someone light up when they buy their first home, or watching a seller receive life-changing money for a property full of memories—that’s the kind of fulfillment that kept me going, even when the money wasn’t flowing in.

A few years into my career, I gave birth to twins (we already had a toddler), which forced me to resign from my job at Johns Hopkins and I become a full-time stay-at-home mom. I had to pause my real estate business, but I couldn’t give up on it—it had my heart.

As a full-time Realtor with no “safe” job and three toddlers, I was terrified. I almost gave up out of fear of the unknown. I just wanted to be sure I could provide for my family. My license had expired, and I remember praying for a clear sign. God answered through a YouTube video I watched about “Purpose.” In that moment, I chose not to give up. I decided to give my career another shot—but this time, I was going all in. And I’m so grateful I did.

My business started to gain real traction again, and I began building relationships that led me to where I am today. I’ve had so many clients turn into friends, and I’ve developed what I like to call my own tribe of “cheerleaders”—and for that, I’m deeply thankful. I’ve even received some of the best feedback from other agents about the experience of working with me, which makes me incredibly proud.

I understand how big of an accomplishment buying or selling real estate is—whether for personal or business reasons—so I always strive to create a positive, seamless, and rewarding experience for every client. All of my clients receive stellar service. I never skimp on how I show up, even when a deal is tough—and I think many of them would agree.

Being in this industry has helped me grow in more ways than I ever imagined. I even wrote a digital guide for aspiring real estate investors called The Simplified Investor, designed to help people avoid costly mistakes when getting started. That was a major accomplishment—one I never saw coming. But as I continue to grow in this profession, I feel more called to share what I know and expand my impact.

I’m grateful for all of it—even the obstacles and detours that led me here. And I look forward to impacting many more lives around the world using my voice, my knowledge, and my heart for what I do.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It certainly was not always smooth. I was at a crossroad a few years ago. I had many moments of doubt, many months with no money coming in. I had family people very close to me try to talk me out of pursuing this career full-time. I would hear “the real estate industry is failing, so you need to go get a job”. Hearing that caused me to question myself and my abilities. I’m sure many entrepreneurs know, you write your own check. So if you don’t work, you don’t eat! There’s a saying that goes “you’re only as good as you last deal”, which is so true. And it wasn’t until I became a full time real estate professional, did I learn what it takes to build a successful business. That came with making some changes in my business and connecting with people that knew more than me about this industry and training.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m passionate about helping people buy and sell real estate for both personal and business purposes. I specialize in working with first-time homebuyers, move-up buyers, downsizers, and both new and seasoned investors. What truly sets me apart is my strong work ethic, my deep passion for real estate, and my commitment to continuous learning. I’m most proud of the meaningful relationships I’ve built and maintained throughout my career—relationships that are the foundation of my success in this industry.

In addition to working with buyers and investors, I specialize in helping homeowners sell their properties with confidence and clarity. I understand that selling a home is both a financial and emotional decision, so I focus on creating a strategic, seamless experience from listing to closing. From pricing and staging to marketing and negotiations, I work closely with my clients to position their home for maximum exposure and the highest possible return. My goal is to take the stress out of selling and ensure my clients feel informed, supported, and empowered every step of the way.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’m a risk taker at heart—I made the bold decision to pursue my real estate career full-time instead of relying on a traditional job as a safety net. I believe in betting on myself and trusting my vision, even when the path isn’t always clear. I also understand the value of investing in my education and future, so even when money is tight, I’m willing to make the necessary sacrifices to invest in opportunities that will help me grow and elevate my career. For me, it’s not just about short-term comfort—it’s about long-term success and impact.
