Daily Inspiration: Meet Jalyss Agosto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalyss Agosto.

Hi Jalyss, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in the Bronx, NY, and raised in Pottstown, PA, in a single-parent household. As a first-generation Latina, I’ve always carried a deep sense of responsibility to make something meaningful out of my journey not just for me, but for those coming after me.

I started off studying criminal justice in college with dreams of becoming an FBI agent. But somewhere along the way, I felt myself being pulled toward something more creative something that allowed me to tell stories, especially from communities and voices that are often overlooked. That shift led me to pivot my path and dive into media and storytelling.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Media and Culture from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, and later went on to receive my Master’s in Broadcasting and Digital Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Now, I’m a creative producer and storyteller passionate about using content to amplify underrepresented voices especially within sports, culture, and community-focused narratives. For me, storytelling is more than just a career it’s a calling. I believe legacy is about how many people you lift as you rise, and that’s the heart behind everything I do.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve faced my fair share of challenges along the way. Losing my first job early on was a huge blow it made me question everything I thought I was working toward. Being the youngest in the room, and often the only woman of color, can be isolating. You constantly feel like you have to prove yourself, speak up a little louder, and work twice as hard just to be seen.

The industry I’m in is very much a boys’ club, and navigating that space as a woman especially a Latina has pushed me to build thick skin and stay rooted in who I am. I’ve had moments of doubt, but I never let imposter syndrome define me. I’ve learned to own my voice, advocate for myself, and keep showing up even when it’s uncomfortable.

Every struggle has shaped me and fueled my passion even more. It’s made me more intentional about the spaces I create and the stories I choose to tell.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a creative producer and storyteller who specializes in crafting content that uplifts underrepresented voices particularly within sports, culture, and community driven stories. I produce everything from short-form digital pieces to full-scale video projects that reflect real people, real moments, and raw emotion. What I do goes beyond just creating content it’s about purpose, impact, and building connection.

What I’m most proud of is staying true to my mission: to tell stories that matter and bring light to people and experiences that are often overlooked. I’ve had the opportunity to produce work that centers culture, celebrates identity, and speaks directly to the communities that raised me. Whether it’s capturing an athlete’s journey, highlighting a grassroots organization, or building out a doc-style concept from scratch, I bring a unique blend of heart, grit, and vision to every project.

What sets me apart is my lived experience, my eye for detail, and the way I show up in rooms with intention. I don’t just produce I listen, I connect, and I lead with authenticity. As a first-gen Latina woman in a space that hasn’t always made room for people like me, I know how important it is to create work that not only looks good, but means something. That’s the energy I bring to every set, every story, and every opportunity I’m given.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is being in environments where I feel loved, at peace, and fully myself. I find joy in nature there’s something about fresh air, open skies, and stillness that reminds me to slow down and breathe. The gym is also my happy place. It’s where I push myself, release stress, and feel mentally and physically strong.

Community initiatives and running especially when I’m surrounded by others who are also showing up for something bigger than themselves fill me with purpose. There’s something special about running alongside a community of people, moving in sync, all connected by intention. That kind of energy makes me feel alive.

At the end of the day, happiness for me is about connection whether it’s with people, with nature, or with myself.
