Check Out Hannah Amaka Jeremiah’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Amaka Jeremiah

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Braiding for me started when I was young. I would always play in my sisters hair or whoever let me really. I moved here from Nigeria in 2018 and in 2019 started practicing on how to braid neater. A lot happened on my journey that caused me to never have enough time to dedicate fully to braiding, until 2021 when I decided to take this seriously and through dedication, practice and investments, I quit my job in march 2022 and focused fully on my passion.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It most certainly has not been smooth. There has been endless nights of anxiety, confusion, exhaustion and moments of doubt. What most people are unaware of is that it takes a strong mind to believe in yourself even in the slow seasons. I have also dealt with different kinds of people. Truthfully, I have been blessed and lucky to gain the most top tier clients but every now and then, I deal with difficult ones who challenge me to shift my business structure. As an entrepreneur, there is also the anxiety of what’s next or of not knowing if you are doing enough and the pressure of putting yourself out there unapologetically. It’s a struggle, but it’s the beautiful kind. You grow all around after.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am hair braider. I specialize in human hair braids and knotless braids specifically. Most people know me for creating braids that match the density of your hair, reducing tension and weight on your scalp and neck. I am also the founder of Braid care, which is a hair brand dedicated to sourcing the finest human hair braiding hair to cater to clients with a sensitive scalp or just those who want a cleaner alternative to synthetic braiding hair. I am proud of how much attention I have given the issue of contact dermatitis= a condition most women suffer from which is the reason why they experience allergic reactions to synthetic braiding hair. What sets me apart from others is my dedication, care, attention to details, experience and customer service.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
There is so much to explore in Baltimore. There is also so much versatility and all kinds of people. I find this very beautiful. I am also a big lover of food and the restaurants here are worth exploring!
