Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Ashmo

Hi DJ Ashmo , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Absolutely! My journey as a DJ started randomly in college when I got thrown into DJing a house party on a laptop. From there, I started DJing more college parties, and that’s when I realized how much I loved curating energy through music. However, after college, I took a break to focus on my mechanical engineering career. Even though I was excelling in that field, I still felt the pull to be creative. So, I took the risk to invest in myself, teaching myself how to DJ with actual equipment and developing my own style.

My diverse taste in music comes from growing up multiracial and experiencing a variety of environments. I was exposed to so many different cultures, which shaped my ability to blend sounds from all over the world. That ability to mix genres and create unique musical experiences is a huge part of my brand today.

Beyond just playing music, my drive for uplifting and spreading positivity comes from my own hardships and the underestimation I’ve faced as a multiracial woman in male-dominated career fields. I’ve seen firsthand how people—especially women and minorities—can lack confidence and inspiration simply because they don’t see enough representation or encouragement. That’s why I strive to create spaces where people of all ages and ethnicities feel empowered, whether it’s on the dance floor, in a classroom, or through my mentorship programs.

Now, through DJ Ashmo Entertainment LLC, I’m building something bigger than just DJing. I’m focused on expanding my brand both locally and internationally, bringing people together through music, and using my platform to inspire and uplift. The journey has had its challenges, but every step has been worth it, and I’m excited for what’s next!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all—it’s been a journey filled with challenges, but every obstacle has shaped me into the DJ and entrepreneur I am today. One of the biggest struggles has been not being taken seriously or being underestimated as a female DJ. The industry is still very male-dominated, and at times, I’ve had to work twice as hard to prove my skills and earn respect. I’ve had people assume I was just a “playlist DJ” or not as technical, but I’ve always let my work speak for itself.

Another challenge is balancing everything, especially as a single mother. Networking and being present in the DJ scene can be tough when you have responsibilities outside of music. The industry often revolves around late nights, constant socializing, and being in the right places at the right time. But I’ve learned to navigate it in a way that works for me, prioritizing meaningful connections and opportunities that align with my long-term vision.

On top of that, staying true to my unique style hasn’t always been easy. The DJ world can sometimes push for trends or certain sounds, but I’ve always been about authenticity—blending diverse music and creating positive, uplifting experiences. Carving my own lane means that I don’t always fit into traditional industry molds, but I’d rather build something real and impactful than just follow the crowd.

Despite the struggles, I wouldn’t change anything. Every challenge has reinforced my purpose, and I’m proud to be paving my own way while inspiring others to do the same.

As a motivational genius, DJ, mentor, and creative entrepreneur, I specialize in curating high-energy musical experiences that bring people together. Through DJ Ashmo Entertainment LLC, I provide event DJing, custom mixes, DJ lessons for all ages, and youth mentorship programs. My style blends diverse music from all nationalities and eras, ensuring that every set resonates with different audiences while maintaining an uplifting and positive vibe.

I am most proud of the impact my work has on people—whether it’s creating an unforgettable moment on the dancefloor, inspiring young creatives through mentorship, or introducing new generations to the culture of DJing. Music is a universal language, and I love using it to uplift, connect, and empower others. When people are shocked to see me as the DJ, it inspires me more to push my brand more internationally to motivate! Anyone can follow their dreams and accomplish their goals and aspirations! “If I can do it, you can do it!”

What sets me apart is my ability to create custom-tailored experiences rather than just playing music. My approach isn’t just about popularity or trends; it’s about authenticity, skill, and curating the perfect vibe for every occasion. Additionally, I’m passionate about integrating DJing with community engagement—especially through school programs and youth initiatives—to inspire confidence, creativity, and self-expression in young people.

What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, I’m focused on expanding DJ Ashmo Entertainment LLC both locally and globally. I plan to grow my online presence by monetizing custom mixes on YouTube and launching virtual DJ lessons to reach a wider audience. Additionally, I’m working on building youth engagement programs that combine music, mentorship, and confidence-building, especially in schools and community spaces.

One of my biggest goals is to establish a strong foundation in Baltimore while spreading club music culture internationally through both in-person events and digital platforms. I’m also exploring opportunities to host and curate larger events, including talent showcases and anti-bullying initiatives that align with my passion for uplifting others.

Exponential growth and evolution are definitely on the horizon, and I’m excited for what’s next—whether it’s expanding my brand, reaching new audiences, or continuing to create unforgettable musical experiences I will continue to stay authentic and versatile!
