Hidden Gems: Meet Steve Herold of Body Align Stretch Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Herold

Hi Steve, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I received my undergraduate degree from Towson University in Exercise Science and went on the get my Master’s at East Stroudsburg University in Clinical Exercise Physiology. I spent a few years working in cardiac rehabilitation. Realizing that wasn’t for me, I was ready to move on but I wasn’t sure where I wanted to go from there. Then in 2017, my girlfriend (now wife) was assigned to Baton Rouge for her career and we moved. While there I ended up getting a job in a personal training/movement rehabilitation gym and I really enjoyed it. I learned a lot of how the human body is meant to move and how to train clients to move and feel better. While doing that, I was introduced to Fascia Stretch Therapy. It is a form of body work that lined up perfectly with what I was already doing and it gave me another avenue to help treat clients. I started my personal training/FST business while in Baton Rouge and when my wife had the chance to transfer back to Baltimore, we took it. So I moved my business to Baltimore last year and have been working to build up since.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was most certainly not a smooth road. When in Baton Rouge, I had a full client load and a great referral network that helped keep me fully booked. Moving back to Baltimore, I became the “new guy” again and I had to reestablish myself in essentially a new town. Which I am currently still doing. It’s tough to build a business from scratch, in which most people who start businesses can understand.

As you know, we’re big fans of Body Align Stretch Therapy. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Body Align Stretch Therapy is a Fascia Stretch Therapy provider. I specialize in table-based assisted fascial stretching that’s designed to improve human movement, improve athletic performance and reduce pain/discomfort. The base of FST work is mobilization of the tissues around the pelvis and spine and how they can help reduce pain and/or improve performance. From there, I work the rest of the body based on what the individual person needs. What sets FST apart from other stretch therapy practices is the training and attention to detail. My training was at the Stretch To Win Institute in Phoenix, Arizona and I went out there for training on 4 separate occasions. I am a Level 4 Fascia Stretch Specialist.

I offer stretch therapy sessions which also includes myofascial cupping and personal training specializing in movement therapy.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Fascia Stretch Therapy is great for people who struggle with tension, pain, movement restrictions. I treat the client based on what their specific issues are and also help them understand where their specific issues are. The more the client can learn about their own body, the better the results.
