Catherine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After graduating from Morgan State University I began my career as a Youth Organizer in Baltimore City. This role was important for me because it showed me the needs of young people in my community. I realized that I wanted to do more to help them which inspired me to start my own nonprofit organization. This organization focuses on supporting youth and young adults providing them with the resources and guidance they need to succeed. My journey as a Youth Organizer opened my eyes to the possibilities of making a positive impact in the lives of others.
Through mentorship I gained valuable knowledge and skills that helped me start my own business. Mentors played a significant role in my development offering advice and sharing their experiences. Their support encouraged me to take risks and pursue my dreams. As I built my business I remained committed to creating opportunities for youth. I hope to inspire the next generation to believe in themselves and strive for their goals.
Currently I own and operate a company called Strategic Collaboration Network LLC. Our main goal is to connect strategic partners in the DMV area and across the state. We believe that by bringing together different businesses we can create more opportunities for everyone involved. My team and I work hard to understand the needs of each business and find the right partners for them. This collaboration helps businesses thrive and reach their full potential.
In addition to connecting businesses, we also focus on coaching and educating business owners. We provide valuable training and resources to help them develop their skills. Our programs cover various topics such as marketing finance and leadership. By equipping business owners with the knowledge, they need we aim to boost their confidence and improve their chances of success. Ultimately our mission is to foster a supportive community where businesses can grow and succeed together.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building a business from the ground up requires significant personal growth and a shift in leadership skills. As I embarked on this journey, I found myself facing challenges that pushed me to expand my abilities. I had to learn how to make decisions in uncertain situations where the path forward was not always clear. This experience taught me the importance of adaptability and resilience in leadership.
Navigating the complexities of starting a business was not easy. I encountered many gray areas that demanded careful thought and strategic planning. Each challenge presented an opportunity for me to develop new skills and gain valuable insights. Through this process I learned how to lead with confidence even when the outcome was uncertain. Ultimately these experiences shaped me into a stronger and more effective leader.
