Community Highlights: Meet D’aja Joyner of Spoiled Girl Beauty & Lash Spa

Today we’d like to introduce you to D’aja Joyner

Hi D’aja, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m originally from Baltimore but attended Clark Atlanta University. During my sophomore year, I discovered a passion for lashes and makeup, spending countless mornings waking up my friends to practice applying strip lashes before class. After mastering the technique, I wore them daily, and in 2019, I returned to Baltimore for a fresh start. I took a lash course, and quickly realized that I wanted to pursue more than just lashes. I wanted to build a career. I began lashing friends and family, eventually traveling to clients homes, to working from inside of my home lash suite. My next step was working at Lash Theory salon under commission, where I gained valuable experience. Wanting to focus more on my craft, I transitioned to an hourly position at Girlkin, where I was able to perfect my skills and gain a wealth of knowledge. In 2022, after getting married, I branched off on my own, lashing inside of my brother’s barbershop. With his support, I launched Spoiled Girl Beauty & Lash Spa, a business I’m proud to have built. Today, I’m not only a lash artist, but also a lash supplier, mentor, educator, and salon owner.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a business owner is no easy feat. it requires both mental and physical endurance. The journey has been full of challenges, especially in building a clientele. As an introvert who had just moved back home after my grandmother’s passing, it took me some time to step out of my shell. I was juggling a 9-5 job while lashing on the side, often sacrificing time with family and friends to make it work. Now, as a salon owner, one of my biggest hurdles is realizing that my lash business is no longer just a side hustle, but my full time career. I’m still navigating the uncertainty of being early in my business and learning how to manage my emotions throughout the process. But I understand that my business is my baby, and I must give it my all to continue growing and succeeding.

As you know, we’re big fans of Spoiled Girl Beauty & Lash Spa . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Spoiled Girl Company LLC specializes in eyelash extensions where I focus on providing high quality, customized lash extensions that enhance the natural beauty of my clients. I also sell lash products, teach lash courses, and mentor aspiring lash artists. Beyond offering exceptional lash services, I provide a space for other professional artists to perform their services, creating a collaborative and supportive environment for the beauty community. What sets me apart is my commitment to both the artistry and education within the lash industry. I ensure that each client receives personalized care, and I’m equally dedicated to helping other lash artists grow and thrive in their careers. I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built, as well as the opportunity to mentor and empower other lash artists. Their trust and success are a direct reflection of the hard work and passion I pour into my business. My brand is built on empowerment, confidence, and continuous growth, whether it’s through a client’s transformation or a lash artist’s journey.

What I want readers to know is that my business is more than just lash services. It’s a space that fosters both personal and professional growth, where clients and artists alike can thrive. Whether you’re looking for lash extensions, to elevate your skills, or to collaborate as a fellow artist, I provide top notch service and support every step of the way.
