Today we’d like to introduce you to Yakira Finkelstein
Hi Yakira, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was still in high school bored one summer night. I saw a makeup look online and decided to recreate it. From there I discovered a passion for costume makeup. I went on creating for years and even got my special effects certification!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Until last year, everything was going swimmingly. My fan base changed and now a lot of my followers live in my area. Additionally, I got older. I love my art but sometimes it feels weird to post creative makeup looks with “real people “. Before I was posting to complete strangers, now I think about what I’m posting because people actually know me. It’s a bit daunting but I still love what I do.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a special effects makeup artist and content creator. I work with multimillion dollar companies like Mac and Benefit cosmetics. I also create ads for companies. I love creating content. The fact that I get Pr from such big companies still shocks me. It’s always a surreal feeling and I’ll never get over it. I think what sets me apart from most is that I’ll post whatever I want and not hold back. I try to be as authentic as possible!
What was your favorite childhood memory?
This is such a hard question to answer! I loved all the memories I created with my family over the summers. We always traveled somewhere as a family and had some pretty cool adventures! I loved when we were fishing in Alaska wearing knee high boots and a bear chased us away. Was such a cool moment!
