Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystle Barnes
Hi Krystle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When I became a stay at home mom to two under two, I was overwhelmed. There was a lot of thoughts, feelings, concerns, etc. and I wasn’t sure where to unload them. Enter Queen of the Beehive. This blog was the space I used to share all of that, unapologetically, in an effort to offload my brain. With time I learned more about myself as a parent and began to share the things I learned, tricks that I discovered, and all tips I had for the fellow in the trenches moms. As my kids have grown, so has QOTBH. Instead of sharing toddler crafts, I’m posting after-school-before-sports-practice-snacks. Myself, my blog/content, and my readers evolve with my family. The one thing that remains the same year after year, post after post, is that I will NEVER sugar coat things. What you see is what you get. We’re not a white walls, clean house, beige family. We live in color, with messes, and celebrate all of the little moments that life sends our way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It absolutely has not. There are plenty of days when I feel like I’m writing blog posts or sharing content on instagram that no one cares about. I get into my head that what I’m doing doesn’t matter. With such a saturated market full of likeminded creators, it’s often hard to feel original.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m the creator behind Queen of the Beehive. QOTBH is a lifestyle blog that shares family meals, home decorating, holiday ideas, and so much more. Each stage of parenting that I reach – there is room for new content to be created. I work with lots of family friendly brands to create content for their socials, sharing them with my readers, and bringing attention to some of our favorite products/brands. I love throwing parties for my kids, but making them attainable. Not the over the top parties that cost thousands of dollars – the kind you can see and mimic at home for your own kids. I’m really proud of the fact that one of those parties was featured in a print magazine called Mingle. I had also been asked to take part in a Baltimore Ravens commercial that has been airing during every game this season. I believe that what sets me apart is the fact that I’m honest about who I am, who we are as a family, and what our life looks like.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m always looking to partner with local shops, restaurants, businesses, etc. to support each other. This is often an exchange of services but can sometimes look differently. Supporting a content creator is best when content is shared, liked, and commented. This brings attention to our work from your own readers, then their readers, and so on.
