Today we’d like to introduce you to S.e. Carter
Hi S.E., we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Chaos Candle Company was founded in 2020 during the pandemic where founder S.E. Carter needed a creative outlet during the chao times.
Deaf-owned and inspired by the enigmatic depths of Greek mythology, we merge the timeless gothic aesthetics with a vintage allure to offer an immersive sensory journey.
Our core we believe that even in the darkest moments, there is always light to be found.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges was standing out in an over statured industry. A lot of candle companies were created during 2020 and some of them have found success. We had to master the art of securing supplies, testing, designing products that would resonate with customers.
Another significant challenge has been securing funding. Chaos Candle Company was founded out of my own pocket. Access to adequate financial resources has been a constant hurdle. Every penny I make goes back into the business.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our mission is to craft candles that transcend the ordinary, inviting our patrons to delve into the depths of their imagination and embrace the beauty found within darkness. We strive to empower the deaf community through creativity and entrepreneurship, while fostering an appreciation for ancient myths and the power of storytelling.
Our identity is characterized by an fusion of gothic aesthetics and vintage charm, echoing the allure of ancient myths. Our candle collections draw inspiration from the chaotic void of creation, featuring rich, dark earthy tones and intricate designs that evoke a sense of mystery and intrigue.
In January 2024, we successfully expanded into perfumes and it has been quite successful with rave reviews from perfumes content creators.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
It might be surprising to learn that many deaf people can speak more than three languages. I can speak Korean and Japanese thanks to kpop and jpop music and culture.
