Today we’d like to introduce you to Guillermo Chamochumbe Rios
Hi Guillermo, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I came to Christ in 2012, I was not always a passionate young man for the kingdom or even for Christ. I am a Pastor’s kid . Before I came to Christ, I was submerged in alcohol and fornication and other sins. I would criticize the church and pastors due to the bad relationship that I had with my father . My parents got divorced at the age of 2, and I only grew up with my mom. At the age of 17 , I moved in with my father. I still remember his prayers. Placing his hand on my forehead and saying that I would one day give my life to Christ.
In an early morning service in 2012, I came to church drunk. I had fallen asleep and when I woke up the Holy Spirit had taken me to the altar and I gave my life to God. That was my first supernatural experience. Where I passed from the light to darkness and God began. In 2014, I met Zulma who is now my wife. Zulma came to minister in a conference in Peru from the U.S . Without knowing that the same year, through a process I had to leave my country, to come live in the U.S. Leaving my career and everything I had in Peru. Not knowing God had brought me here for a purpose and a calling he had for me and the youth of our city and the Latin churches .
7 years ago , we founded Revival Movement along with Zulma. The Lord spoke to us and told us a time of revival was coming and that we needed to tell the youth that knew God that it was time to walk in their given purpose. That’s how we started to knock on the doors of small churches, of the youth that were waiting to be called to do something for the Lord. In our first conference we had 60 youth that united as one body of Christ and that day the Holy Spirit descended. At the end of the last conference, the youth that had come cold , emphatic , dry without a desire for God spiritually . Now were prophesying and speaking tongues. They were praying for each other. In the parking lot an hour after our conference, they bowed down without even wanting to leave because they were in the presence. The youth understood and would say I need God, That day was the start of our movement. I speak about Revival Movement because this is what defines me , it’s my purpose.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been easy, because I was an immigrant in this country where I had to start from scratch. Personally with many challenges internally with facing fear and moments of uncertainty of what God has in store for me. But I did not stay with the fear and uncertainty, I trusted God.
In my ministry life, one of the biggest challenges was not knowing how the youth would respond to the calling God was making them through what God had placed in our hearts. Like any other movement we started out with no finances. But throughout the years we have seen the hand of God bless our ministry. Touching the lives of many to bless the ministry and who also believe with us that God is bringing a revival to our youth.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In 2023 , I along with my wife Zulma were ordained as Evangelists of the nations. We have traveled to the nation of El Salvador where we have open up a campus and invited multiple churches to come together. People from Mexico, Honduras, US and among others gathered to worship God for Remanent El Salvador. I decided to live my life working towards my God given purpose and dedicating my life to him. We have hosted Remanent conferences for 7 years and many Revival Nights. We have seen the youth grow and the Latin churches come together in our area the DMV. That is my proudest accomplishment.
What were you like growing up?
I have always been extroverted and noble. But growing up I had low self esteem . But when I met the Lord I began to know my identity and walk in purpose. I was always a go getter a person who always wanted more. I was never conformed with what I had.
