Meet Llynks of Boston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Llynks

Hi Llynks, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started with 8 years of piano lessons starting at age 6, then moved onto songwriting and composing in middle/high school, I went on to study at Berklee College of Music and graduated there with a BA, in professional music (haha), and writing and performing ever since!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely have been struggles along with the successes. I would say the hardest part for me is the marketing aspect and trying to *break through the noise* and have people actually listen to what I make haha. However, creating and bringing along the right team to work with me has been extremely helpful and has been the catalyst for things starting to really accelerate. Figuring out how to fund the project until it makes money for itself has also been a particular challenge. I’ve found a particular love for teaching – so I also teach private songwriting, voice, and piano lessons as well as early childhood music classes along with touring, selling merch, and recouping royalties from the music.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Introducing the enchanting world of Llynks, formerly known as Sara Kendall, a mesmerizing Boston-based dark popwave artist. With her upcoming album slated for release in the Spring of 2025, Llynks epitomizes a fusion of otherworldly soundscapes and raw emotion.

As a multifaceted songwriter, producer, and vocalist, Llynks delves into the depths of the human experience, infusing her haunting melodies with introspective lyrics that resonate with themes of empowerment and self-preservation. Drawing inspiration from realms both fantastical and futuristic, her compositions serve as a mirror reflecting her personal journey, each lyric a poignant testament to her innermost thoughts and struggles.

Llynks’ musical prowess is illuminated through her powerful voice, a conduit that transports listeners into the depths of her soul. Her debut album, “Become the Root,” unveiled in July 2020, boldly explores the notion of seizing control over one’s perception, enveloping listeners in ethereal and cinematic productions that linger long after the music fades. With each release, Llynks continues to captivate audiences, offering a transcendent experience that blurs the boundaries between reality and imagination.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Yes, the outbreak of Covid changed everything. I had released my debut album at the time and was not able to tour it, I lost all my in person students, and everything felt like it was at a standstill with trying to make any sort of plan for the future. With time, I started collaborating with other artists virtually from all over the world, started taking online marketing muuuuch more seriously, and started teaching lessons virtually.
