Exploring Life & Business with Kiana Davis of Bodied by Ki

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Kiana Davis.

Kiana Davis

Hi Kiana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My health and wellness journey started in 2020, I began to struggle with anxiety and depression. A week before the global shutdown, I began experiencing panic attacks and found it challenging to have the energy to care for myself and my daughter. I began to seek help by going between my mother’s and sister’s homes, had a loss of appetite that resulted in a significant weight drop of twenty pounds in three weeks.

Throughout this ordeal, I leaned on my faith and engaged in self care activities such as baths, reading, and hiking to navigate through the darkness. However, two things always stuck with me to improve my health: journaling and gym sessions. These experiences inspired the creation of my self-care journal, “Don’t Forget About Yourself,” which released in 2022 and the new edition in 2023.

Fast forward to the present, I’ve recently obtained certification as a personal trainer. Like many others, I faced weight gain during the pandemic, struggling to curb my increased appetite. My personal journey of shedding 50 pounds has not only inspired others but has also fueled my desire to support women facing similar challenges through professional guidance and support.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Navigating this year has presented its challenges. Reflecting on recent events, my journey took an unexpected turn when I lost my position as a Digital Marketing Specialist on January 4th. While I had anticipated ending my time with the company by the end of this year, this transition happened a lot sooner than later. While working for my last company, I had been pursuing my certification in personal training. So I can continue to align with my aspirations as an entrepreneur.

Although the loss of my job was a disappointment, I channeled that energy into endeavors that aimed at my personal and professional growth. The digital marketing realm has been rewarding, but my true calling lies in entrepreneurship. Amidst this transition, complications with my unemployment benefits occurred, which further motivated me to go all in with my online presence and content creation to attract clients.

In March, I began to increase my Instagram presence, I announced my availability to accept clients, along with starting my new role as a personal trainer at a gym. However, this period was marked by a personal loss, as my father passed away just two days later, a loss I continue to grapple with.

Nevertheless, I remain resolute in my commitment to persevere and thrive. Harnessing my energy to constantly evolve and improve, I am determined to navigate the challenges ahead with resilience and optimism.
