Hi Jeremy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
More than 27 years ago, I started following my father around, shadowing him doing construction and contracting jobs. Soon, he started investing in rental properties, and my job became the property manager, maintaining and managing all rental properties. For years, I wanted to be a contractor chasing big jobs and wanting to be the big kid on the block. 5’9” I’m no giant, I tried other ventures and just kept coming up short it felt like.
In 2022, I was working full-time, having just bought a new house in Westminster, coming from Baltimore, and starting life over pretty much. I purchased a dump trailer 3 years prior. I was working 9 hours a day, getting off work and hauling jobs. I started to figure things out rather quickly in my new environment. My wife and I went on our 10th wedding anniversary, and I told her I was quitting my job. She advised me not to do that with 3 sons and two brand new vehicles, a new home, a great job with great benefits, and I have bigger visions than most, so I went to work, put my two weeks in, and quit the same day.
I dove head first with a sink or swim mentality, and I founded J4 Outdoors after my 3 sons, all named J’s. I’ve focused on junk removal, residential and commercial abatement, and hauling services. I built my website and registered my business on many platforms. Here we are today, 2.5 years in business, holding a 5-star Google rating, and I like serving my community and helping others.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My first year, looking back, was tough, but I managed and kept going.
