Today, we’d like to introduce you to Dede Gracia.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Decoration, for me, started as a fun hobby. I especially love to do it when it comes to birthdays or any special occasions. I started back in 2018 decorating for family and close friends, doing small scale birthday decor and balloons and sometimes even planning their entire celebration/event. Then around 2020, I decided to create a name for it which is now Benis Decor. I started small. Life can be very challenging— and it’s not easy running a business, but I appreciate every opportunity I get to plan and decor for someone’s big moment. It is a joyful moment to celebrate.
Since 2020, I have been locked in and working closely with clients who trusts me and gives me the opportunity to bring their vision to life. It’s been nothing but a joyful experience. I learn something new about being in the event industry and myself with every set up decoration I do. It motivates me to keep going because I see the hard work I can do and with time— it will pay off. Benis Decor has grown so much which is why I’m excited to grow witj my clients as the year goes on. Benis Decor is growing for the better. I remember every setup I have done. I use to have to rent all my equipment, buy the balloons, etc. but I have now built up a mini-inventory I can work with and looking to eventually grow it up to where I want it to be. Benis Decor is ready to serve everyone both in and out of state. I hope you see some of my past decorations and book us for your next celebration.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would not say it has not been a smooth road, but I can take away from each experience and learn from mistakes and challenges. Most of my bookings are a smooth and fun process, but sometimes I encounter more not-so-nice clients. With professionalism, I will still do my job and be respectful no matter the event. I’ve had setbacks i’ve had to overcome like not having my own transportation but my great friends have assisted me so that I still got to do what I love.
I’ve had events where I had items missing and had to readjust everything I was working with, venue changes & rules, not receiving payment, etc. Sometimes this has been discouraging when you want the outcome to be as great as possible. I see all those things now as challenges I had to face learn and better my business in the long run.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Apart from decor planning, I am an office manager at an adventure park. What I do is keep up with daily business tasks, rules, and goals that need to be done on a weekly basis, create schedules and make sure our guests that book parties with us have a great experience with their kids and guests. I am very proud of the person I am becoming. I face a lot of challenges each day but I always stay positive knowing I will come out stronger
How do you define success?
Success is being able to accomplish something you are motivated to get done. No matter how you get to that success— whether it’s through struggles, tears, fear or joy. You keep going until you reach where you want to be and are proud of yourself. Success is found through growth. Once you feel like you’ve reached success, you’ll feel great
