Check Out Alejandro Buxton’s Story

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Alejandro Buxton.

Alejandro Buxton

Hi Alejandro, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I had several businesses before Smell of Love Candles was born. I had a lemonade stand, a lawn mowing business, and a snow shoveling business. But I started Smell of Love Candles because of my mom. She loved candles but used to get many headaches from them.

She did allergy testing and found out she was really sensitive to smells. She started making candles to burn around the house, not to sell, but it caught my attention, so she taught me the steps of making a basic candle. I started to research and test, and that’s when the idea of Smell of Love Candles was born.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it’s been really hard at times. Being a business owner is like a roller coaster. It has a lot of ups and downs. In the beginning, not a lot of people took me seriously because I was so young. So, I had to make content that showed me making candles.

Then, I couldn’t get into markets because, again, not a lot of people thought I could do it. But along the way, a lot of people have started supporting me and encouraging me and that’s been helpful.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our candles were from my love for my mom, so they’re allergy-friendly. I also have asthma, so I have to be careful with the things that I burn in the house as well.

One rule we have is that w don’t sell anything that we wouldn’t use ourselves. So, if anyone in the house reacts during testing, we don’t put it out. Our products must pass the “owner’s test” before putting them on the market.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
No matter your age, pursue your dreams and chase your goals.
