Life & Work with Jennifer Vargas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Vargas.

Jennifer Vargas

Hi Jennifer, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started as an idea I was always bringing up or trying to make a joke out of, mostly because I was too shy to take it seriously. A friend of mine who was a photographer [I worked closely with for my future drops] at the time had kept pushing the idea and I finally caved in and did the proper research to jumpstart my business plan.

I officially started in 2019 during the early stages of the pandemic with just getting everything planned and doing the finishing touches for my first drop, finally, I dropped the first looks in mid-2020! I was so nervous about what other people would think at first or what others had to say about the first looks but they had to come out eventually, you know? Once I dropped the first looks, I was so surprised and relieved by how many people were ecstatic for my first drop, looking back I don’t even know why I was so nervous. I decided to drop it a couple of months after I dropped my first looks and I sold out almost immediately I had to restock 3x times. I honestly could’ve cried at how many orders I shipped out that first week for my first drop and it gave me motivation to do more and drop more which I did!

Over time, I’ve had to take a step back from my brand to focus on being a first-time mother now since I’ve adjusted to that routine and am more comfortable with it, I’m going full throttle on the brand just loving it more because it’s also my first baby and I’m all in so I hope the girls (and guys) are ready for this year. VV is taking over, had a minor setback for a major comeback!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, definitely faced some challenges with being consistent altogether. Some struggles I’ve faced were mostly just trying to make time for my business after having my daughter and going back into my 9-5 while trying to keep up with it all.

It got overwhelming to the point where I stopped trying with my business for a while and felt super discouraged and anxious. Over time once I got myself into a consistent routine, I felt more confident and relaxed to post more content, push my sales more, and just put myself and my brand out there.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What I do for work, I’m an ABA Therapist who specializes in autism with younger children to help them develop better behaviors to cope with daily life or their daily routines. I’m known for being a problem solver, working well with my clients and their families, and being considerate of my client’s emotional support as well as the behavioral aspect. What I’m most proud of is seeing the difference I’m making in people’s lives.

I enjoy knowing that the work I do people will take along with them for the rest of their lives and being able to support those in need to come out the other end on top and confident to walk in this world with their heads held high. I believe what sets me apart is my drive to figure out ways that work with each of my clients because all children develop at their own pace and sometimes people tend to forget that so I make it a point to grow and develop as they do, on their time.

Do you have any advice for those just starting?
My advice for others who are starting is to do your research before just attaching your name to anything!

It will save you a lot of trouble, time, and money in the long run so you can avoid any problems especially attached to your business(es). Something I wish I had known when I was starting was the importance of having a trustworthy team and not having to do everything myself if I’m able to access the help.
